Bearings on the right side upper rack slide
I removed the plastic bearing holder on the under side of the slide. I know it did not fix the problem, but it eliminated the bind that would not allow the rack to slide out completely. Thanks

Water trickles in past inlet valve, doesn't fill dishwasher fast enough. Can i use a different inlet valve due to cost?
Hey Tommy, Your description leads me to think that you are plugged. I have never had to change a valve trying to change flow. I would not do that.
Take off the hose before the valve and be sure that you have good flow from the source. If so, see if you can remove and open up the valve. Some you can and some you cannot... If you cannot save it, get the correct replacement and it should work fine.
I think your valve is plugged. look for a screen that you can clean in the inlet of the inlet valve.

Viking dishwasher float valve location
Hello, welcome to FixYa.
Based on your post I understand you have a Viking VUD141 dishwasher, correct ? I also interpret your post as you are trying to locate the float, correct so far ? (there is no "valve" present for the float)
As you may or may not know these are built by Asko (AM appliance group)...that being said, the float is located under the tub behind the toe plate.
**before proceeding turn the dishwasher power off via the home breaker panel, or unplug it from the wall if that is possible...most are hard wired to the home electrical...safety first**
The first thing to do is remove the toe panel/kick plate. If water is present, with the aid of a sponge, towels, or a wet-dry shop vacuum, absorb the water from the base...it should be known that if you leave the unit for a few days, the water (if present) in the base will evaporate hence appearing as everything is fine again...if a problem/leak does exist it will return.
If the unit works fine after resetting the power/breaker and soaking up any water present, it can likely be chalked up to a drain back-up or obstruction in the drain hose or pump... (it could mean a faulty drain pump so you'll need to pay close attention the next few times you run it)
Your Viking will be slightly different, but likely only cosmetics. Once you've located the float behind the main connection plate, you should see something like this image below, i.e.
**Top arrow is the switch identifier, the second is the actual "float" ** With the aid of a long screwdriver or if you can reach it, move the float up and down and listen closely for the switch to "click", indicating it is indeed functioning.
The float is primarily the last ditch safety to prevent disaster in the event of a overflow, back-flow, or leak underneath the unit to service or call for service to the unit. the first is the "pressure switch. It controls fill as well as "over-fill" scenarios.
That's the extent of accessing the float assembly. Hope this helps move you forward, or even better resolves the issue altogether. Let me know of course, I will help you move further if necessary. Good luck.

Macmarkus :)

Viking Dishwasher Vud141 circulation pump
Hello
& Welcome to FixYa
If
the water fills fine and completely, then it means that the circulation pump is
bad however, as you have already checked the pump and that is working then test
the float switch located inside the bottom front of the unit. Please get back
to me if you have any other questions.

Not filling with water. After
Hi
You'll need to
check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch
assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As
the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water,
thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong
position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling.
Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float
switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the
hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the
water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve
is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check
continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then
you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is
fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...
Please post back if you need more information.

Viking Dishwasher - Model VUD 141 I need to
Hello, welcome to fixya
Here's what works for me, move the rack stops to the left if you haven't already and then the rack itself. i.e.
and
Now you'll need to remove the bumpers at the back of the rack rail...
i.e.
push down on the bumper as shown
and pull it down and out at the same time...it takes some force, you can use a small screwdriver.
Now you'll need to slide the rail all the way out as shown, but careful not to let the ball bearings fall into the sump area in the process.
I usually hold the broken piece in place while removing the rail...
...( they come in a kit at "repairclinic.com" under number 1394379 like shown here )
The trick now is to install the balls into the holders first
and the holders into the stationary part of the rail on the inside wall...
The inside wall rail will keep the holders in place as you slide the inside rail into place...this will usually require holding the holder with one hand while pushing the sliding rail back into place...
Once this is done, re-install the back rail bumpers followed by the rack and then finally the front rack stoppers and that should do it.
Hope that explain it for you or gives you an idea of how it needs to be done. Please take a moment to rate the assistance I provided here today favorable and a brief testimony is also appreciated when providing free solutions.
Thanks for visiting "fixya" today for your repair help. Let me know if you require further assistance.
Good luck.

Macmarkus :)
P.S.
I should also mention you as I alluded to, be sure none of the old 8 ball bearings didn't fall down into either the drain pump or circulation/wash pump. This is something I've seen far too often on Asko/Viking dishwashers with the end result being a broken impeller in either pump...or both, yikes ! I use a telescopic magnet to fish around as it will be the only object made of metal...unless something else has fallen in the sump well area, it's good to check.
Again, good luck :)

Glasses have a film on it. Can't get them clean
If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is toadd some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1 cup of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.
Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.
