Viking VGBQ300T (NG) All-in-One Grill / Smoker Questions & Answers
Flame is too small, does not get hot enough.
This sounds like it probably is a regulator problem - they tend to corrode very quickly in salt environment - i live on the coast too and have the same problem often.
First thing to try is to spray a little WD40 or similar into the regulator. often they will have a tiny hole somewhere in the body of the regulator usually on the side away from the gas bottle but there are many different types - spray in this hole in particular. Then give the regulator a bit of gentle violence - often the spring plate inside can stick or the valve itself and this can free it up.
No luck with this then get a new regulator - they are not usually expensive - make sure the regulator is the correct type for the gas you are using, they have different pressure settings for propane, butane, and all the assorted mixes.
The sticky left Knob is unlikely to affect the gas flow, although there must be some corrosion to make it hard to turn so it is possible that this has gone into the valve/pipe behind the knob - sometimes these valves can be dismantled and cleaned fairly easily, some are sealed units that just have to be replaced - if you want to try and are not sure what to do, try posting back with some photos and i could try and talk you through it, or try getting me on a live chat armed with photos, some WD40 and a selection of basic tools and some steel wire wool (stainless if possible).
Hope this helps and we can get you grilling for the summer, please ask again if not :)
I have a Viking Grill model VGBQ530 with cast iron
That is correct. Viking no longer supports the Cast Iron Burners. There is an aftermarket Burner VIKU1 that comes with mounting brackets to convert older Viking Grills that used a Cast Iron Burner to be able to switch to the stainless steel burner. The large bracket attaches to the center tube and has two screw holes and screws for mounting to the rear of the housing. The two smaller brackets mount to the two holes at the rear wall of the housing and create a ledge for the end of the two tubes to rest on.
Have a Viking built in. Ignitor is working, fresh tank of gas, turned on valve on tank, grill will not light.
If you are using a 20# propane cylinder, most likely you have just turned the tank valve on too fast. There is an excess flow built into the hose fitting, so when you first turn it on to an empty line, the sudden surge of gas causes the valve to 'check' or close. Turn off the tank valve, disconnect the hose fitting from the tank valve and then re-hook it up again. Now very slowly open the tank valve until it's completely open and then try lighting it again. If this does not fix it, then make sure the hose fitting that attaches to the tank valve is tightened all the way, so that it pushes open the pressure seat inside the tank valve. If the hose is still loose or can still swivel, despite the adapter being tight, then your plastic adapter may be broken and is not tightening all the way onto the tank valve or your inner tank valve black rubber gasket is missing.
I cannot get a flame
Here's the problem and the solution. The new regulator you just installed, locked up when you turned ON new tank. This oocurs quite frequently with the fairly new OPD equipped grill tanks.
Solution:
1. Turn the gas tank's valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.
2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.
3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY, SLOWLY (slow motion, slow),
4. Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH.
Did the burner light and does the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burners
the same way. Now, do all the flame heights look correct? If so, you solved the problem (with
a little help). Remember to ALWAYS open the tank valve very, very, slowly.

Viking gas grill - when
What you have described sounds like a clogged burner as well as the venturi valve on the burner. Your will need to remove the burner to clean it and the venturi valve on the open end of the burner, that goes over the burner orifice. Spiders like to build nest in them and clog them up. The venturi valve will look like two slots, cut in to each side of the burner, at the open end. It's function is to mix air with the gas, for proper combustion.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!
My smoker reads eaaf on he digital printout
I'm having the exact same problem this morning. It worked a few days ago when I "seasoned" it. I read something about the controller being cold sensitive so I brought it inside to see if that works.
Is "Halal" meat safe for humans?
Hi, Carole. According to the Wiki article on Halal, it is an Arabic word meaning "permissible," referring to food, objects or actions. With respect to food it is similar in intent to the Hebrew word, "Kosher." In both Islam and Judaism, for example, pork is not considered permissible. There is much more to know about Halal, but I'll defer to our Islamic neighbors to answer more fully. Short answer: entirely safe. Enjoy!

How to take top grill off
You need to identify brand and model. Armed with that, someone may be able to assist you. Or, you can use google to search for a user manual if you include the brand and model in the search. What follows are general instructions for a lot of grills but may not fit your model:
Open the door(s) of the grill.
Look up at the bottom side of the grill.
Remove the grill screws going up into the bottom of the grill.
Tilt the grill forward at the top and release the springs from behind the grill.
Lift off the grill.
