Viking vmos200 sparking

If there is spark please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is leaking and sparking to the ground. As you have mentioned it was stored, it is quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron. So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off. Now switch the microwave power on and use a cup of water to test. If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. Replace with same type. If not check the waveguides within the cabin for food particles that can burn and spark, check for rust that can corrode and spark when the ceramic paint has worn out. If there is heating without any issues, you can use the microwave safely

Set clock but time goes off

see this causes and fix it. God bless you Door Switch If the microwave runs for a few seconds and then shuts off, a door switch might have failed intermittently. Check each of the door switches for any signs of overheating, arcing, or burning. Also check each of them for continuity. Replace any of the switches that is visibly damaged or that only has continuity intermittently. Main Control Board If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops there may be a short circuit in the main control board. Check other components first, these boards are often misdiagnosed Touchpad and Control Panel If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the touchpad and control panel might be defective. There are several other components that can cause this problem, be sure to check any other components before replacing this board. Touchpad If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the touchpad might be at fault. This is not common. Generally speaking, if the dishwasher display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but some don't, the problem is with the touchpad. High Voltage Transformer If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the high voltage transformer might have an intermittent short. This is not common. Check other components related to the microwave symptom first. Thermoprotector If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the thermoprotector may have tripped. This is a safety device to prevent the microwave from overheating. It can be tested for continuity to see if it's blown. Thermostat If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the thermostat might be defective. Watch our video on testing thermostats. 10_3_2012_4_49_00_am.gif

Our Viking VMOS200 just stopped working. The

it has nothing to do with the magnetron. first you have to fix step one. then you will know if the magnetron is bad. its one or two of the primary switches on the bottom of the switch tower. usually with these mw if you dont press cancel to stop the mw, and you just push the latch to stop it, those wires heat up and cause the microswitches to burn and loose proper contacts. put a cup of water in the mw. set it to one minute and as its counting down. push on the latch LIGHTLY, as to not fully open the door and you will hear the magnetron kick on and the turn table start to rotate

Vmos200 microwave-set microwave timer goes down no power but when open switch is pushed in a little bit it works holding it in slightly

On these, this is usually due to a failing bottom door switch, or its mount. Sometimes the door can also get misaligned due to slamming.See my help file on door switches here. The Viking VMOS200 is essentially just a rebranded Sharp R-530E-series oven. The R-530E service manual is here and it's helpful in working on your unit. All the internal parts will be the same, but outer parts are cosmetically different. You can order Sharp parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835. My viking microwave is not heating

Hello, Investigate these three areas if your microwave won't heat Power Diode A diode is an electronic component that readily passes current in one direction only and blocks the flow of current in the opposing direction. If your microwave's diode has become defective, your microwave will not heat. Test the diode to determine if this is the cause of your problem. Replace it if it is defective. Testing a diode NOTE: Before you test your diode, make sure your microwave is unplugged, and that you discharge the microwave's capacitor. Whether it is shorted or open, a defective diode will most likely show some sign of defect. Defective diodes will usually emit an electrical burning smell, signifying its defectiveness. Also, it may have split in two, or it may exhibit a burned crack, or possibly even a blistered spot. A shorted diode is indicated by a loud humming noise from the high voltage transformer, and no heat produced when a cook cycle is initiated. Whereas little or no heat produced in your microwave, with an absence of a humming noise is indicative of an open diode. In either case, the diode has to be replaced. With your microwave unplugged, and your capacitor discharged, use extreme caution to remove the lead that leads to the capacitor. You can leave the ground connection attached. The side of the diode that goes to the ground is usually marked with a dot, stripe, or arrow. Set your ohmmeter to R x 10,000 or higher. Touch the positive meter probe to the anode and the negative meter probe to the cathode to measure the resistance across the diode terminals. Remember that the cathode is on the side that goes to the ground, which is often marked by a dot, stripe, or an arrow. A normal diode, that is a non-defective diode, will read anywhere from 50,000 to 200,000 ohms. Differences in microwave make and model account for this large range in resistance readings. Reverse the meter probes and measure resistance while touching the positive probe to the cathode and the negative probe to the anode. Reversing the probes like this should result in a reading of infinity. Unless a bleeder resistor is present. The presence of a bleeder resistor would produce a reading of the value of the resistor. High Voltage Capacitor A capacitor is an electrical device which stores electricity. A defective capacitor may be why your microwave is not heating. The capacitor will have to be tested to determine if this is the cause of your problem. A defective capacitor will have to be replaced before your microwave will work again. Make sure you discharge the capacitor before you test it, though. Magnetron A defective magnetron is the third possible cause of why your microwave is not heating. Test your microwave's magnetron. Replace it if it is defective. Testing a magnetron NOTE: Before you test this component, make sure your microwave is unplugged, and that you have discharged the capacitor. There are two tests to conduct in order to determine whether or not a magnetron has become defective. If you receive results other than what are detailed below, you will have to replace your microwave's magnetron. Each test is described for you here: TEST 1: Locate your magnetron and label each of the wires attached to it so that you know which wires are to be replaced where. Set your ohmmeter to the lowest resistance scale. Take a resistance measurement between each of the magnetron's terminals by touching each probe to one terminal each. Reverse the probes and take a second resistance measurement. Each measurement should read less than one ohm. TEST 2: Set your ohmmeter to its highest resistance scale. Touch one of the meter's probes to a magnetron terminal. Touch the other probe to the metal magnetron housing. Take special caution to not touch the two probes together. This could result in an inaccurate reading. This test should produce a reading of infinity - indicating an open circuit. Read the tips on the below links on how to replace your microwave oven's diode and how to discharge the capacitor. http://www.fixya.com/support/r7088355-replace_microwave_ovens_diode http://www.fixya.com/support/r7088317-discharge_microwave_ovens_capacitor I hope the above is helpful. The timer works but nothing else does

Have you checked the door safety intelock switches? This is the number one reason for no heat when all else works. If the tiny contacts are burned, they cannot tell the oven that the door is closed. Door not closed, the magnetron will not come on ... no heat. forget what you know about the door, the switches must function properly to tell the OVEN the door is closed. Check them with a contunity checker or a VOM, if you have one. You will have to remove the cover to find the switches.Thank you for your interest in FixYa.com

VIKING MICROWAVE TURNTABLE WILL NO TURN OR STARTS

The turn table turns very slowly. There are two possibilities for this problem. The weak motor or worn out gears. Most probably its weak motor.----------- The turntable system consists of the motor and coupler, turntable support with rollers and the tray. ------------ Lift the plate up and see how the motor runs.If the motor runs proper, then its worn out gears. But if motor is still running slow then its weak motor.Replace it.To remove motor. ----------- Take the small plastic gear off of the small elec motor. The gear is the one that fits up against the glass turntable. The motor just slides up into the bottom of the brown plastic star thing that you see from inside your oven cavity. It could be melted together or just stuck with whatever fluid that spilled over and killed your motor. Pull a little harder. And motor will come out. ----------- The plastic wheel stays in the cavidy of the microwave. when you unscrew the motor it drops out just like it should. In the same way install new motor and the turn table will start turning as it should.----------

You can get required parts from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.

----------- This should help. Thanks.Helpmech.

Lights and clock go on

Sounds like you have a bad relay (turn on) on the control board. You may have to replace the entire control board because when relay closes it sure start the cooling fan and the power to the magnetron.
