The check valve prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If the valve gets stuck closed, it will prevent the water from draining. If the check valve is stuck closed, try cleaning it out and then replace it if necessary.

Since you have replaced the water inlet valve and still have the 1E error code, this leads me to believe that your water pressure could be too low.
1E error code means that your machine is not filling with enough water to operate correctly, so check the supply system completely and also the filters where the supply hose enters the machine.
The poor cleaning could be food clogging the lower filter screen, the groaning is the circulation pump cavitating.

Fill machine with water and let it start to run---then hit cancel button. Dishwasher should go into a drain cycle and then end.

If the dishwasher won't start the thermal fuse might have blown. The thermal fuse helps to prevent damage to the dishwasher by turning off power so that it doesn't overheat. Once blown, the thermal fuse will have to be replaced for the dishwasher to work. The thermal fuse is usually located in the control panel on the control board or mounted to the bottom of the tank behind the lower panel. The thermal fuse can be checked for continuity.

Element? You need to make sure it's not running your garbage disposal or anything else. Also it couldn't hurt to pull it out, turn it on it's side and take off the base plate. These machines are notorious for leaking into themselves and rusting themselves out at an early age. LG won't help you if it's rusted. Well, they prolly won't help you anyway but if it's rusted, they won't honor any warranty and you'll never get resolution because the CSRs are the only ones empowered to make the decisions. These usually don't completely break until the machine is out of warranty. Call LG sooner rather than later if you're still in the warranty period. No they don't do they. Even if you don't use "Sanitize" or "Air Dry". The water doesn't get that hot either if you haven't noticed. With the new "replacement" machine, even after it's done I can't touch the dishes for several minutes. But the LG made that little jingle indicating it was done. There must be an easter egg somewhere that tells the machine to dry. Whatever you do, go and buy Dishwasher Booster, whether your store carries "Affresh" or the Oxy Clean brand, use it every cycle with your washer. You'll thank me. Your problem probably isn't listed under troubleshooting either is it? Just hang some paper towels or a dish towel nearby and expect to dry your dishes when the machine is finished washing them.

You must have some wild kids! :)
someone must have sat on it and bent all the metal inside bad. Unscrew the panels and try to bend everything back (though it may leak all over from now on if it isn't perfect).

This is caused by the " the flood" circuit at the bottom of the dishwasher that detects some water leak. Once this circuit detects any water on the bottom of the washer, it immediately switches the pump out circuit on. It consists of a polystyrene float coupled to a micro switch. You need to dry the bottom and then check for leaks (hose or hose clamp).

Could it be the water is not getting to the machine? Usually there is a water inlet fitting on the back or bottom of the machine. Please check that first.
Be blessed.
