Lid of my chest deep freeze is cold on the outside

Normal phenomenon due to inside temperature and insulation properties of lid. Nothing to worry about unless you start getting bad condensation on the lid, when it's time for a new freezer!

Freezer is making a loud

inside the compressor body there are springs which sometimes break and allow the
motor to knock against the outer enclosure. There is no fix for this as the system is
sealed, short of replacing the compressor. Not a problem with operation, but quite
distracting.
On another note, if the freezer compartment is beginning to freeze up or the fan
blade was installed too far back on the shaft, this could also cause noise.
(it will only make the sound in the freezer compartment when the fan is running
if this is the case). Hope this helps.

What is the setting for

Just set your thermostat to the colder position. If you still face the same problem, you need to conduct service maintenance of your freezer. It may dirty, run out of refrigerant, leaks problem, sensor problem etc.

After defrosting door will not

Check there are no small vegetables stuck in the seal. Crazy, I know, but it's amazing the places frozen peas can end up.

If there's nothing caught in the seal, perhaps the seal has deformed. How did you do the defrosting? Sometimes people use knives and damage parts of their freezer. Some people use boiling water, which can cause damage to seals. If the seal has become deformed, you will most likely need a new seal.

It might also be worth checking the door hinges; if the door isn't flush with the opening, the seal won't seal properly. Defrosting shouldn't cause any problems with the door, but sometimes accidents happen.

Good luck!
