Hello bellm.... This shaver operates on a battery. The charger for the battery can be changed to suit the power source available in whatever country you reside. If your shaver was assembled in the states, it most likely has a 110v charger which will work when you plug it into the 110v outlets found in the states. If you buy this shaver in England, for instanice, it will come with a cord and charger that will plug into the 240v system available in the UK. Joe
