Digital cameras no longer "stamp" the date and time into the image but will add it to the EXIF information of the file. Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). I'm afraid that Isn't possible.
Cameras aren't portable media players; the built in software that cameras have can read only a very limited number of file types and configurations.
Usually a camera can read only what it had written to the memory; if you open a file on the camera and make even a minor modification using a computer, it will never read that file again.
