The port might need to be cleaned out, thats a seriously old school console so if it hasnt been cleaned in a while thats probably your issue, especially if the controller works in the other ports. If you have any experience with cleaning out consoles, you could do it yourself, if not i wouldent recomend it, id say to take it to an expert for cleaning.

This is pretty common. The games just need a good Q-Tip cleaning, and then the weird clean pencil-eraser rubbing.
Get out a Q-Tip, and rub it inside the game, on the copper part (The part you stick down into the system.). Keep doing this with new Q-Tips if the old ones get soiled with black stuff. After the new Q-Tip comes out white, it should work.
Sometimes, that isn't enough. Use some Windex or any other rubbing alcohol, dip it onto a Q-Tip, and rub it onto the copper part. Then, use a dry Q-Tip to dry it off, and let it sit out of it's case and out of the system for about 20 minutes so that the alcohol dries.
If that doesn't work, use a pencil with a clean pink eraser at the tip. Rub it inside the game, and use a Q-Tip to get all of the eraser shavings out. This breaks the electro-static cling/friction made when the game is being read by the system.
And if none of that works, go on Amazon or Ebay or to the store Slackers and get new video and AC wires for the Genesis. Sometimes that's all it needs!
I really hope this helps!
Hi. I have a problem with my sega genesis console.
This might sound stupid, but it always worked for me! Get a pencil with a clean pink/red eraser at the tip of it- one that's never been used. Put it into the game, and rub it like you did with the Q-Tips (Left to Right). Get out a Q-Tip and clean the inside once more (Without alcohol) so that all of the eraser shavings are out of the game, and try to play it.
If this doesn't help, I'm sorry, but I don't know what to do. I've never had a game glitch after doing the pencil trick.
I really hope this helps!
My sega genesis turns on and the tv it's hooked up
Hmmm... see, I had that SAME problem with my dad's old Genesis. So, I went out and got a new video wire for it (Can be found at Slackers if you're in the midwest of America... if you aren't, go on Ebay or Amazon and hunt around!), and a new AC cord. Then it worked just fine.
If that doesn't work, try cleaning the copper part of the game you stick into the system with Q-Tips. Sometimes Windex helps, and then you can use a Q-Tip to get the Windex off, and let it dry for about 20 minutes. And if those don't work, get a pencil with a clean pink eraser at the tip, and rub it in the game. Use a Q-Tip to get off all of the eraser shavings. The eraser breaks the electro-static cling made when the game is being read/played.
Good luck, and I really hope this helps!
I recently bought a sega genesis off of ebay and
wow i have not seen one of these since i was in teach school. in some cases its due to carbon build up on the copper pins at the base of the cartridges (games) using a cloth with window cleaning solution clean along the copper strip and re insert game. if this does not work then the internal strip inside the machine will need to be cleaned.
good luck
How to
You need to hook up the cable coming in from the outside to one end of the Sega RF cable and hook the male end of the RF connector from the Sega into the cable input on the TV.On the back of the game console there is a channel selector switch. It is either CH3 or CH4 which is what your TV needs to be on when you turn on the console. If one looks bad try switching the channel selector on Sega and on the TV.
Good luck and game on!
Why is the screen fuzzy?
Make sure that all of your wires are firmly connected. I am assuming you are using an RF adapter. Check whether the "Channel" switch is set to 3 or 4, and then make sure you TV is set to the same channel..
If this does not work, let me know and I will assist you further.
I have bought a sega master system type 1. This
This si a very old peice, I would say its the video card inside called the gpu witch is getting hot causing it to crash mid game. This hapends with age,use ect ect the only way to repair this is with a new logic board. With that said you might want to consider buying another of ebay. These are going dirty cheap i seen one for 5 bucks. So really there is not really anything that can be done to tell you the truth.
