Seiko Pulsar Bracelet Watch - Page 9 Questions & Answers
How do I take out links in a seiko SUR072 watch band.
Without seeing the band design, Seiko has a couple of executions that they use. One is a pin which is flared on one end. There is usually a directional arrow showing you which way the pin gets driven out. You will need a small hard pin. It should tap out, after the flared end is exposed you can pull it out with a small pair of plyers or side-cuts. Push out the next pin in the next link then put the pin back in the way it came out. The flared end is the last piece that goes into the band. If this doesn't work try a store where they at least install batteries. Good Luck hope this helps. Gabe
Is there any way that I can set my Seiko perpetual calendar watch at home?
What a great watch! It has a super-fine piezo-electronic motor to move the date wheel! Very cool. Its quite a show to go through the date/leap-year check, and then observe the watch catch back up to the correct time afterwards. Battery lasts ~five years.
I downloaded the manual (your model number on watch back) after a short search online (beware of trojans/viruses).
Setting after a battery replacement requires shorting certain pins inside the watch to set the leap-year, and date. The back unscrews, and may require the special watch-wrench, available online. I unscrewed mine VERY CAREFULLY with fine pliers, confirming that I was doing this in a clean, dust-free location. The instructions are quite specific, must be followed carefully to set up correctly. Have a fine wire jumper to set the leap-year. I learned this because I did not want to pay an inexperienced jeweler $100 to replace the battery.
