How do I replace a battery on zojirushi rice cooker
You will probably find (like I did) that the battery is a large (about 30mm diamter and 10mm thick) lithium one that is soldered directly onto the main PCB. You will need to open the cooker (ensure that it is unplugged) and remove the PCB. There will probably be a lot of different size plugs on the PCB which you need to remove first. On my cooker I found that these were all different sizes and/or colours, so the could not be mixed-up. Unsolder the battery from the PCB and solder a PP3 battery connecter in its place. Replace the PCB and run the PP3 connector to a suitable space inside the case (away from any 'live' items). Place two AA/penlight 1.5 lithium batteries into a 3 Volt holder and connect this to the PP3 lead. Then secure the holder in a suitable location inside the case. In future changing the batteries is much easier!!! Note that when you open the case, the screws are on the base of the cooker, and there are also some plastic clips which help hold the case together - pull carefully to release these once the screw have been removed.
