Seagate backup plus is beeping and will not pull up on computer??

Troubleshooter: Seagate Manager does not see my Seagate FreeAgent drive Troubleshooting in case the Seagate Manager cannot detect the FreeAgent drive. Sometimes, Seagate Manager (the software bundled with newer FreeAgent drives) does not see the drive. This article focuses on drives that can be seen in Windows, but are not seen in the software. If you are using Windows 8, please note that Seagate Manager is not supported in Windows 8, so you will need to use a different backup solution. If the drive is not detected in Windows 7/Vista/XP, then use the external drive troubleshooters to try to resolve the non-detection issue. After connecting the FreeAgent drive, please give it up to 1 minute to display in the middle of the main screen in Seagate Manager. 208575-1.jpg If the drive does not display, open My Computer (Computer for Vista) and confirm the drive is listed there. The drive should be listed as "FreeAgent Drive". If you have formatted or renamed the drive, then it will show up with the name you provided. If the drive does not display in My Computer (Computer for Vista), use the External Drive Troubleshooter to help resolve that issue before continuing. If the drive is detected in Windows, check if the Seagate service is running.
  1. Right-click on the My Computer (Computer for Vista) icon.
  2. Choose Manage.
  3. In the Computer Management window, click Services and Applications.
  4. Open the Services area. 208575-2.jpg
  5. Scroll down the Seagate Service (they are listed alphabetically).
  6. The Seagate service should display Started in the Status column. If it does not, right-click on the service and choose START.
  7. If the service reports as Disabled, enable it to start automatically. To do this, right-click on the service. A Status Type drop-down menu will appear. Click on the General tab. Select Automatic and click OK. 208575-3.jpg
  8. Reboot the computer.
  9. If the service fails to start after you reboot with these settings, then check the logs of your Antivirus or Antispyware software to confirm they are not restricting the startup of this service, as some aggressive protection programs can prevent services from starting until you approve them. So, you may need to approve this program specifically in the Antivirus/Antispyware software. Please contact your anti-virus software support for help.
  10. If the service will not start or is working already, uninstall the software (for steps on uninstalling the software, see this article).
  11. Once the software is uninstalled, reboot the computer.
  12. Then reinstall the software by opening the InstallSeagateManager.EXE file on the FreeAgent drive. If you have removed the software from the drive, it can be downloaded from the download center.
  13. If the drive is still not seen by the computer, connect the drive to other USB ports on the computer. Some eSATA cards block the drive's identity and prevent it from working. Updates have been made to Seagate Manager and to some vendors' eSATA drivers to help this issue. See our eSATA tips article for details.
  14. If the drive still does not display after these steps, please contact Technical Support.

Seagate Portable Hard drive 4TB, part number 2N1AP6-500

Hi, Please put your computer into safe mode before attempting to connect to the hard drive again. Safe mode turns some feature off when activated so whatever program is forcing the shutdown might have be paused when connecting to the external hard drive. Also, try connecting the hard drive to a non-laptop intermediary device and then connecting that device to your computer and attempting to access the hard drive folder within the intermediary drive. Thank you.

Need restore my RAW file system back to NTFS without losing any hard drive files?

There are two options for you to get your drive stuffs back right now: 1). Do not format this RAW file system external hard drive temporarily and plunge it to your PC. And then, choose and apply RAW external hard drive data recovery software to scan this drive and find your preferred drive files back as many as possible. 2). Directly consult some professional data recovery services from some data recovery companies or agencies. In the future, remember to save copies of everything important on at least two devices in case of any similar data loss issues.

I have seagate plugged in and attached to my computer. I downloaded the program but I get the message connect a dashboard enhanced drive to activate features ??

Can you please provide more detail on the program you are downloading, the model of drive, and model of computer? On the face of it, the program seems to be saying it is not compatible with the model of drive you have plugged in, or that the drive has been reformatted in a way that is not compatible. Does the drive show up in the File Explorer / Finder of the machine?after comment : ok, if you can drag and drop files onto it, then That means it is operational, and recognized by the system. The next question is why you can’t install the Seagate Desktop software. Where did you get the software from? Try going to Seagate Support and looking up your drive model, and doing a fresh download of the software they have for that model. Alternatively, there are other backup software packages available, Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, and others. You can find reliable downloads of utility software at downloads.com (CNET) or look for reviews from PcWorld or PCMagazine for their recommendations of the best paid and free backup software

(ask maker of card , if it can) newegg.com has them all, any thing you can dream of , is there. if you look. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4UB8ZU9127&Description=pci-e%2c%20pata%20IDE%20card&cm_re=pci-e%2c_pata_IDE_card-_-17Z-0007-00AF2-_-Product again, no PC stated, no OS stated. nor of booting is needed to the PATA relic drive. from 1999.

External hdd seagate can't connect to my laptop

I usually figure 2 or 3 years for a hard drive life cycle. After that, I figure I'm on borrowed time. First try to check the disk for errors. Then try to delete the volume on the disc, then format - be sure to click "restore defaults".
