To install the PC Suite with Windows® XP If you use Windows® XP on your computer, you may need to install two hot fixes on your computer to use your phone with the PC Suite. If so, the PC Suite will ask you to install the Microsoft® software hot fixes during the installation. To install the hot fixes for Windows® XP:

1. Connect the USB cable to the computer and the phone.
   
2. On the phone: When you attach the USB cable to the phone, a USB connection window appears. Select PC Suite.
   
3. On the computer: Click PC Suite on the autoplay pop-up to start the installation. If no autoplay pop-up appears, see the instructions below to access the installation software drivers.
   
4. In PC Suite, click on the first hot fix (KB943198), which re-directs you to the Microsoft® support site to download the hot fix.

5. Follow the installation instructions.
   Note: The computer may restart after the first hot fix is installed.
   
6. Return to PC Suite and click the second hot fix (KB945436), which re-directs you to the Microsoft® support site.

7. Request the fix to be e-mailed to you and enter your e-mail address.
   
8. Go to your e-mail client and open the e-mail. Click the link to the hot fix.
   
9. Click Run to the File Download pop-up.
   
10. Unpack the attached protected zip file. Click Ok to Microsoft Self-Extractor or select a source.
    
11. Use the provided password included in the e-mail.
    
12. Open the downloaded hot fix and follow the installation instructions that appear.
    

Note: If you run Windows® Vista, this problem installing PC Suite will not occur.
The drivers for the installation files are located on your memory card. The first time you connect your phone to a computer with a USB cable, a pop-up is often automatically shown on the computer.
To access the installation software drivers for PC Companion, PC Suite or Media Go:

1. Connect the USB cable to the computer and the phone.
   
2. On the phone: When you attach the USB cable to the phone, a USB connection window appears. Select Mass storage.
   
3. On the computer: Click My Computer > PHONE CARD/Sony Ericsson PC Software > pccompanion > Startme.
   
4. The PC starts to initiate the PC software installation. Follow the installation instructions that appear.
   
5. When installation is complete, Sony Ericsson PC Companion will start.
   

Note: During installation, several pop-ups may appear about Device driver installation or trusted software. Click Yes/Continue/Next to finalise the installation.

1. Open nero burning rom and select the type of CD or DVD you wish to make 2. Put the data in that you want to burn 3. Click next and you will see a screen with burning options 4. Select Finalize disc (No further writing possible!)
You now have a disc that is write protected.

Hmmm, very strange. So you received the disc in the mail from Amazon without a retail box? I can't view that Amazon order, but I believe that you ordered it from them. I am very confused by the part when you say:

"When I installed Nero it did not ask for the serial no. but provided it."

What do you mean? Using the same disc the first time it didn't ask for a serial number? But provided it? Say what? :)

And then when you try to use the disc again, it needs a serial number? Are you doing a "fresh" install, or trying to install on the same machine, in the same version of windows? Was the computer completely reinstalled and now you need to reinstall Nero?

ok question 1, did you have a previous version on machine, 2) have you removed all traces of it.

run the general clean tool
run the windows disk cleanup tool
reboot
turn off anti-virus
reinstall the downloaded update, using your purchased serial number during the installation.

click start, click control panel, click system, click harware tab, click device manager, click + sign on cd/dvd-ROM drives, right click your cd/dvd, click properties, click driver tab, click roll back driver or update driver. one should work. Good luck.

Nero should be able to replace your serial number. You'll probably need your receipt. Otherwise, they offer a free trial of nero 9 here;

Because it's not a free program, there's no other legal way to get a serial number beyond the trial versions'. Although be sure and ask Nero about it anyway, even if you don't have your receipt.

Hello I to have received software from the store with absolutely no serial key, It had an empty white box were it was supposed to be. Basically you call the software company and give them the information they require. You can always call the place you bought it and ask them if they are selling legit copy's of the software. )Software with no cd-key can be pirated even if the disc and packaging looks legit).
