What size belt do I need for this vacuum?
The most durable long lasting belt is available from your Riccar dealer. A Panasonic belt will fit but will need to be replaced more often. All belts should be changed at least once or twice per year.
HOw do I replace the riccar 8850 hose?
Inside the bad compartment you can see the swivel portion sticking through. You will need to take a screwdriver and push in on the tabs on the swivel to release it so it can be removed from the body of the vacuum. The new hose ans swivel will just push into the hole and the tabs will hold it in.
Belt continually slips off Riccar upright vacuum
Your 8850 is an old vacuum. If a new belt does not solve the problem it may need a new rubber motor mount or metal pivot. Both parts are inexpensive and available from your Riccar dealer. If it's been a while since it's been serviced it would be wise to have it serviced by your dealer. A Riccar vacuum will last for many years but should be serviced once a year like all vacuums.
Can't adjust from floor setting to carpet setting
The carpet / floor selector moves a rod which adjusts the clutch, Your model is over 10 years old, it may need a new belt, clutch rubber pad or just need adjusted. If you don't know how to perform these services take your vacuum to your local Riccar dealer for service. It's the least expensive way to keep it working properly for many years.
Broken foot pedal riccar 8850
Remove the assembly that holds the foot pedal by removing the three screws after you've removed the bottom plate and brush roll. This allows you to get the nozzle housing out of the way so you can rotate the assembly holding the foot pedal from the metal pivot. Remove the e clips from the shaft and pull the shaft out of the foot pedal (be sure to look closely at the spring and how the shaft are positioned so you can be sure to install them exactly the same way you took them off. It is not a hard job but can be confusing the first time. It's not an expensive fix to have done by your Riccar dealer.
Beater bar not turning with belt
If it spins freely the belt is probably broken or it needs adjusted or has a worn part. This is an inexpensive thing for your Riccar dealer to do when you have your vacuum serviced.
Reset button won't push in
The button will not push in unless it has been tripped. Your model is well over 10 years old, it could be the power cord, the switch or a loose wire somewhere.
Low suction
The knob is to reduce the amount of suction. It normally should be closed.
WHERE IS RESET BUTTON
On the back down by the bottom left side. it's a little white button by the tag that says "reset button"
Loss of suction
Your vacuum may have a clog in the hose or in the tube where the hose inserts into. Make sure to replace the belt it it's been over a year.
