Bose SoundDock digital music system Docking Station for iPod - White (35703) - Page 3 Questions & Answers
I bought the new ipod
Hi
First ensure the dock is powered up. Then simply set your
iPod to play what you want and then insert it onto the dock. You should hear music immediately.
However, you should be aware that with the later generation ipod Touch (which your new one is) the older Bose I Docking stations will not charge the
iPod Touch as the pin-outs were changed in the ipod design. There are also some problems in this case with the functionality of the remote control.
Bose is aware that the new versions of the iPod Touch (8GB, 16GB and 32GB) and iPod Nano (8GB and 16GB) do not charge when docked on the original Bose SoundDock.
Previous versions of these iPods used a specific pin on the dock connector on the bottom of these iPods for charging purposes. The pin to charge these iPods was changed to a different pin with the introduction of the newer models mentioned above.
The newer Bose SoundDock II charges your new iPod touch and is fully compatible with the iPod.
If you have the older sound dock you should call Bose as there is an upgrade available for around $99 that will work with the original Bose dock to give it 100% compatability with the new iPod.

I have a new ipod nano but when i put on to
Your iPod is newer than the dock and I'm not sure why Apple does this, other than to sell more hardware, but your iPod is not compatible with your dock, so it will not allow charging. You can probably still us it for playing music, just not for charging. Sorry
I have a Bose docking station that I have been
Called Bose support.... they offered me an upgrade at a discounted price (original $399, offered $179) if I shipped my unit back.
I shipped it back - hopefully the new one is better (battery backup and slot for mp3 players).
SoundDock won't charge new iPhone 3Gs only 2G
The original Sounddock will never be able to charge the new Iphone 3G. You will have to sell it (on ebay) and then get yourself the SoundDock Series II. It's very similar to the original and it will charge your iPhone 3G. The new SoundDock also has the SoundDock Portable's more advanced remote control, and a new auxiliary input so you can plug in other audio devices. I believe they are $299 brand new but look around and you should be able to get one for less.

I pod charges, plays, but no sound
Easy, I had this problem too. The reason it isn't playing is because its not in all the way. I was getting very frustrated with this, so I kept trying to push it onto the dock to get it all the way down.
Solution:
1. Play a song on your ipod/iphone so you can hear it through the device.
2. Connect your ipod/iphone to the docking station(Bose) so that you hear the chime(This lets you know its charging).
3. Pick up the docking station and firmly press the ipod/iphone down on the connector.
4. Keep pressing it and wiggling around until you hear the music begin to play through the docking station.
It may take a few tries, but you will get it.
Hope this helped!

Bose SoundDock burned out two of my iPods - a Nano and a classic.
um ur sounddock might require that u place the white docking piece that came with ur ipod to be place b4 the ipod is docked
if not u may ruin the dock and the ipod usb port
this is done because different generation ipods(nana and touch and ...) have different shapes so the entrance for docks may require to be eleveated or reduce in gradient
basically if the dock isnt made for the specific ipod or u dont know
just put the white piece in
Bose sound dock - no sound comes through it but my
I had this problem for the pat two days. Believe it or not I took my Ipod touch of the dock. Shut the power off to the Ipod to reset it. Also the power to the docking station. turned everything back on. Put the Ipod back into the docking station and heard the beep.. and hit play and it was working again. Not sure but shutting Ipod off does act like a reset.
My Bose system does not want to play any of our
different ipod generations have different shapes for their chargers
i mean the angle of the ipod is different
when u buy an ipod it comes with a white piece that has an eccentric hole in the middle
put this down b4 putting the ipod in
it may work now
but u may have broken the usb access port for the bose
I just installed a new battery in my ipod and now
sounds like the jack on the ipod for the headphones is not connected properly. i would take a look at that spot inside the ipod see if anything is getting bent or crossed. or take it into someone who knows electronics and has some equipment to check the lines inside the ipod.
Ican't get any sound ....
Sounds like a possible problem with the firmware on the iPod. Did you
update before the problem started? This has been a real problem with
updates for iPods. I've even had an update cause a pair of earbuds to
not work anymore.
First things first, unplug the SoundDock. Plug it back in and try
again. Then take the Dock insert out....and try it again. If that
doesnt work check the power cable. A common problem is that people plug
it in the wrong way into the Bose SoundDock. If that still doesnt fix
your problem. Bring the product to your nearest bose store if its still
in warrenty. If not, call 1(800)644-2673.
