The ipod headphone cord acts as an antenna, and with the design of the nano you can't plug them into the ipod and the docking station at the same time. You can buy an audio adapter cable - a 3.5mm to 3.5mm one; just plug one end into your ipod and the other end into the aux port on the back of your dock. You can then use the radio, as the cable will act as the antenna. I got one on ebay - the cable has plugs on each end which are the same size as your ipod headphone plug. You can also get them in variety stores or electrical stores.

My Sincere advice is that you get it done in one of the Bose Centers in your area. Since it is brand new it should be under warranty period. If you are lucky you may not have to incur any expenses depending on the nature of defect and part replacement.

There is some docking stations or players for the generic MP3 players but most don't even need them. A lot of them do have speakers attached but you can always get generic stations such as the one that IPOD offers or if you want to save some cash, just get some speakers that will attach to the player. There is a lot of products out there so shop around and even check out your major retailers such as Wal Mart

This is usually not a normal problem. First you have to check the setup of the device and ensure that you have the proper iPod cable. Also to narrow down the iPod charging problem try using another iPod or an alternative cable for charging the iPod if it still doesnt work then it will be advisable to return the unit to your dealer.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

First things first, unplug the SoundDock. Plug it back in and try again. Then take the Dock insert out....and try it again. If that doesnt work check the power cable. A common problem is that people plug it in the wrong way into the Bose SoundDock. If that still doesnt fix your problem. Then its a short circuit.Take the product to your nearest bose store if its still in warranty. If not in warranty then the unit has to be checked for short circuit in the connections. Many a times the circuit board gets short if got over heated. It has to be checked with meter. If not familiar with doing this then a local technician familiar with this brand model is advisable to get it checked. If there is a short then problem is not too big but to locate the problem it will take time. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Which ipod are you using? a great many docks are not compatible with the touch. When shopping for a dock to use with the touch there is a separate icon on the packaging that denotes ipod touch and iphone compatibility. If you no longer have the box or user's manual check with Bose' customer service.

If your ipod is not a touch I would check to be sure that the dock connector is clean and clear of debris.

I am also assuming that the ipod synchronizes normally with your computer (meaning that the ipod's socket is good) Try listening to the ipod via headphones while it is connected and charging to make sure that there is not an internal problem with the ipod.

I hope this helps.

Where the Ipod sits in the dock, there's a removable piece that you can pop out....that should take care of your problem.

Your iPod is newer than the dock and I'm not sure why Apple does this, other than to sell more hardware, but your iPod is not compatible with your dock, so it will not allow charging. You can probably still us it for playing music, just not for charging. Sorry
