I just had the same problem with mine - turns out the Bose docking stations are comlete and utter **** and if yours keeps working you're one of the lucky few. Mine only had sparodic use over a 3 month period and it stopped producing sound the other day. I took it to a repair shop and they've seen a lot of them with the same problem. The solution - dump it in the bin and get a logitec set of speakers & you'll have better sound. This was proven by attaching the iPod to each system.

Hi zoe_lengyel,

I see that your are having a no sound from your Sound Dock.

*On your Sound Dock while your ipod is docked check if the Volume is set to normal.
* If there are any other devices connected behind on the input jack then you may need to Remove or Disconnect that device.
*try playing audio from your ipod again this should work now.

If the issue is the same try to press and hold down the Play/Pause Button for atleast2-3 seconds. also check link below.

Unless you know what you're doing, it's probably best to take it in for repairs to someone trustworthy or a local repair shop or get rid of it.

My guess is that the iPod connector in the Sounddock is loose or damaged. You can get a new connector and solder it on yourself (very difficult!) or you could get a replacement PCB at http://www.chargeconverter.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=37 which is quite easy to replace (see http://ridax.wordpress.com for description).

Check with a magnifying glass if any of the pins on the iPod connector is loose. Push each pin with a needle while you watch in the magnifying glass to see if any of the pins are moving.
If it is loose you either need to solder it back again (which requires very good soldering skill) or you can buy a new PCB at http://www.chargeconverter.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=37

Check if the iPod connector seems loose (try bending the iPod slightly and carefully forward/backward to see if it makes any difference). If it is, you can get a replacement board at http://www.chargeconverter.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=37

This indicates the power supply of the dock has failed, which is extremely rare for these Bose units, they are quite high end really. If it's only 3 months old then it is under full warranty and you will just want to get a completely replacement unit. I can confirm that it definitely has a failed power supply or main board in the unit, either way it is a difficult and expensive repair, but you are totally covered under warranty. Electronics are finicky sometimes and they are prone to just giving out without notice which is why warranties exist to cover situations like this. Usually electronics will have problems in the first 6-10 months if they are going to have problems at all, and if they don't they usually last for many years.

Please give them a call at 1-800-999-2673, they are open 7 AM til 2 AM Eastern Time so give them a call right now and you will get your replacement unit on it's way to you.

Thanks, let me know if you have any questions or concerns, just reply to my answer here and I will be right back with you.

Hi , This is neo , did u check the connecting pins , they would gone bad.

Bose SoundDock... | Answered on Nov 01, 2010

One or both of the connectors may be damaged or there may a "dry joint" where connector is soldered onto the circuit board within the docking station. Alternatively, there may be some dirt or dust stuck between the connectors causing a poor connection. You can try sharply blowing into the connectors or try using a small brush such as an electric razor cleaning brush to remove any dirt/dust. If this doesn't resolve the issue you need to try connecting another iPod to the docking station and see if you still get the static noise problem. If not then the problem is probably confined to your iPod only.

Hi,

The most common problem in Bose sound dock's usually is a failure of docking connector. It is impossible for a person with only normal soldering skills to replace just the connector. You have to buy the circuit board for $59 from the link below :-

http://www.chargeconverter.com/shop/connector.htm?connbose.htm

You can replace the board yourself or you can give any local repair shop the part with the printed out instructions to follow.

This what i have seen on most cases.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
