I started to have the same problem today and was also getting a "Library Error Encountered...." message. I was able to resolve it by Formatting my player. I lost all my data and settings but now I can put music on it again. To format your player go to the Home menu-Settings-Common Settings-Format

I suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the USB Driver to resolve the issue.
Follow these steps to uninstall the driver and confirm the player is recognized properly.
IMPORTANT:

• This procedure must be performed while logged in as Administrator or to an account with Administrator rights.
• If you are using the Windows® XP operating system, you must have Service Pack 2 or later installed.

1. Click Start and then click Control Panel .
2. In the Control Panel window, click Performance and Maintenance .
3. In the Performance and Maintenance window, click System .

5. On the Hardware tab, under Device Manager , click the Device Manager button.

10. Disconnect the portable player from the computer.

I've just bought it and had a similar problem. What helped is:

1) Download Total Video Converter
2) In conversion format menu go to "Pocket Player."
3) Click "SONY Cellphone" and choose the middle line (Sony K700... blah blah)
4) Set the quality on "normal"
5) Low quality won't work - it'll say the file's not supported.
6) This worked for me. 45-minute video takes about 10 minutes to convert.
