This is tricky. You will have to navigate through the menu in the 'dark'. Remember that when you touch the screen, double touch as you would when you click your mouse. Turn it on, you will see the 'Polaroid' logo and then it goes black. Here you need to double touch in the bottom right corner. This is the settings, it is a big box so dont worry about missing it. Then you double touch on the middle of the left side, this is the display. Then double touch on the lower right side. This is where the brightness bar is. It should reboot the page with a brighter screen and the black goes away. If dont see results, turn it off and try process again. Promise this works, I fixed both of my daughters!

I CANT PUT VIDEOS ON MY MP3
1. Connect your MP3 player to your computer using the supplied USB cable. The cable hooks into the bottom of the player.
2. Open Windows Media Player on your computer. If your MP3 player is connected properly, the media player will display The Name Of Your Player in its menu. This is where you place your video files.
3. Locate the video file you want to put on your MP3 player and select it by clicking on it with your computer's mouse.
4. Once the video is selected, "drag" the video across the media player to your mp3 players name display on the player.
5. When your player's name display lights up, release the mouse to "drop" the video into your MP3 player's video file.
6. Repeat the process to place additional videos.

Polardoid mpa-200115 Digital Media Player
On the top is a switch. This switch goes left for lock. Make sure it is not locked. Once it is unlocked, you can touch any switch, button, or dial, and it "wakes up" the device. Now you should have the screen available.
This may not answer your question. Please provide more details if not.
As a note, in case you didn't discover it like I did, if you want to turn off the device to save power when you are not plugged in to USB and you aren't using it for a while...turn the device off by holding it in the "on" position for about 2 seconds. The device will shut down. Place the top switch back into lock position so it will be harder to accidentally turn it back on.
Good luck.
Something unrelated. If you don't have Windows Media Player 10 you may have problems getting music to sync to your device the way you want. Then again, you may have problems even with WMP10. See how it goes.
