New modem installed and router

First step is to make sure if the modem is working. Connect your computer directly to modem with ethernet cable and see if you can log on to internet! if yes
next step connect modem to your router's WAN port with an ethernet cable and then connect your computer to one of the LAN ports of router with ethernet cable. Power down all devices and power up modem first wait until all lights are on and then router wait until all lights are on then your computer! 9 out of 10 times this works! try good luck!!

I have a Dynex router

Any wireless security settings are going to be accessed from the netgear. When you chain one device to another, you need to know what the IP address the access point is assigned in order to log into its web interface. the wireless options will be missing if you just simply log into the Dynex web interface. To figure out the APs address, you may have to manually configure it to keep it simple.

I switched ISP's and got

Usually you need to program your router with the ISP's informations, is your ISP using PPPOE (user name & password required) to connect to there server or is it DHCP (automatic IP)???, once you have these informations you open your browser, than enter the IP address of the router in the address bar of the browser, than enter the user name & password of the router, go to the SETUP tab and select the correct type of connection (PPPOE or DHCP) if it's DHCP you normally don't need a user name & password than save & restart the router, if it's PPPOE you need to enter a user name & password (supplied by the ISP) than save & restart the router....

to find the ip address of the router, once your computer is connected to the router you click START, than RUN, type CMD in the bar, than a black window will pop up, type IPCONFIG, look for DEFAULT GATEWAY, note the IP address in the form of numbers separated with dots (ex: 192.168.0.1)

if you can't log in the router (unknown user name & password) than you have to RESET the router by pressing and holding the reset switch (usually in the back of the unit) for 20 seconds, this will bring the router to factory default, than you can log in with the default user name & password according to the router's manual...

You could try calling your new ISP's help desk, they can walk you through the setup if they are a GOOD and serious supplier...

Good luck!

How to connect a dynex (dx-e402)router to linksys

Configure the dynex on another computer that is not connected to the linksys router.
Assuming that your linksys is currently setup as 192.168.1.1
Turn off DHCP on the dynex and setup the IP to 192.168.1.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1
use a cross over cable and plug each ends to the LAN port on port routers.
you should now be able to ping 192.168.1.2 (dynex router) from your other computers on the linksys router network.
any computer that is connected to the dynex should be able to get a dhcp address from the linksys router.

Does the router work wit Microsoft Windows 7?

Routers are not dependant on an operating system version, they run their own custom operating system, so yes it will be fine with windows 7.

Bought a new computer and trying to install my

The Dynex manual for this router says the default address of the the router is 192.168.1.1 and both the username and password should be admin. If you are connecting to 192.168.0.1, you might be reaching some other router connected to your network, or the Dynex settings have been changed. You can restore default factory setiings by resetting the router. Use a straightened-out paper clip to press the recessed RESET button on the rear panel. Hold it until the System LED flashes three times, then release the button. The router will reboot and factory default settings will be back.

Hello, I'm hooking up this router with a point of

Hi, you can access your router's settings by typing its IP address into your web browser. Typically on a small network this would be 192.168.1.1, but it might vary by router model or network. Once you type the IP address in and hit enter, you can view and change the router's settings. (You may have to enter your username and password first, depending on how the router's security is configured.)

The problem may be a firewall issue if your router is set up to block specific outgoing requests, but under Advanced Settings or Security you should be able to look around and see specifically why your credit card requests won't go through.

Hope that helps!

Cant hook this up, will this work two computers

You will need to use two standard ethernet cables. Each computer will connect to each of the LAN ports on the rear of the router. If you would like to connect the two computers to the internet, you will need to connect another ethernet cable, one end to your modem (assuming you already have one) and the other end to your router's WAN port. There are additional settings you need to configure on your router if your ISP requires a login.
