did you get it from a download or have a disk? when you purchase norton don't they send you an email or something with the activation code? tell us how you installed it and did you have a version already on your pc? if so, you would need to remove it first.

I would rather use Avast then Norton. Norton is a memory hog.I have been using avast for years it works excellent.

if you have windows xp, and you upgrade to vista you need to install a pack before you install vista. do this to no what xp you hava...

enter command prompt (as administrator)-> type in chkdsk /r and the enter... when it asks to reboot do so , and wait for finish , it will enter windows automatically... hope this helps

There are other free Antivirus, Norton just slows your machine down, I suggest two of the following: Microsoft Security Essentials, and Spybot S&D 2
