I have a bassett 3 in 1 crib model # 5860-0620 and
I called Bassettbaby after
reading about drop-side recalls and they sent me a conversion kit to immobilize the drop-side of this crib to make it fit the new safety standards. While I was talking to their customer service rep, I asked if they could also send me a copy of the instruction manual as I purchased my crib used and it did not come with the manual. The rep emailed me the manual right away -
I've uploaded it to Google Docs for anybody else who might need it. I highly recommend calling their customer support at 800-308-7485 to get a conversion kit if you also are using this crib.

Need instructions ofr converting crib to a toddler bed.
This site has instructions for the cribs listed below. The 1st two listed seem to be generic cribs with a metal mattress support. It worked for my used crib.

Bassett crib model 5530-0621 purchased in 2007-
If you don't have the rails to convert, Bassett discontinued the crib in2008. You can convert it using a standard metal (bolted) frame found in mattress or furniture stores. I called customer service today and found this information. 7/15/2013

I have a bassett baby bed with no instructions,
Just as I thought the keyhole slot went in the top screw hole for that section; noting the purpose of the keyhole slot is to put it on the screw and slide it down. I finally got the bed together, might I add without instructions, and it works great.

Anyone know where to find a basset crib instruction manual?
Don't pass along this crib! It is 23 years old. Even if it was never used, stored in a humidity controlled room for the past 23 years, it is still an OLD crib. Crib safety standards change on a regular basis, so you can be sure that your crib does not meet the newest standard. But since it was used, and has been stored since then - who knows the condition? The glue could be dried out, the wood slightly warped. All these things can create a potential death trap. And since the crib is the one place a parent should feel comfortable leaving their child alone for hours, you want to make sure it is the safest piece of child gear in the house. PLEASE do not pass this crib down, but get rid of it. Old cribs are not safe, regardless of how well it worked the first time around.

Side rails
I have a similar problem, but a different Simmons crib. I called the
company that momof4girls unrecommended and they were VERY helpful, but
they were not able to ship me the parts as Simmons discontinued this
type of hardware in the early 90's. My crib has a headboard and
footboard - the 2 side boards are able to slide up and down on aluminum
slats (almost 3 feet long.) The aluminum slats are connected to the
headboards with 8 bolts; what I needed to order replacements of are the
plastic sliders that allow the sidewalls to go up and down on the
aluminum bracket. Not only do they allow it to go up and down, but
without them you are not able to assemble the sidewalls to the crib at
all. I solved the issue buy purchasing L brackets at Lowes and
permanently attaching the sidewalls to the headboard and footboard, but
it made it so the sidewalls did not raise or lower. I am ok with
that! However, if you do NOT have the aluminum slats, you may be out
of luck. The spring for the bed attaches on the aluminum brackets, so
even if you were able to bolt the 4 sides together, you still have to
figure out a way to attach the spring for the mattress (which connects
by sliding a hook into holes on the aluminum bracket... no room for
bolts here.) I am rather surprised that the hardware for this crib is
plastic and aluminum; the bed is HEAVY and it is very difficult to put
together as the aluminum slider is easily bent and the plastic sliders
are flimsy. I actually broke the plastic pieces during assembly. No
wonder this hardware was discontinued! I called Simmons and asked if
they had an "updating' kit... they do not. Good luck!
