From what I understand through QVC where I purchased my Ultrex Model LT 512 deep fryer, the Ultrex Company is no longer in existence. My detachable cord go destroyed, so I am looking to purchase a replacement through www.theconsumerlink.com T-Fal appliance replacement parts listing. Maybe you will find a compatible fryer and then order that manual.

I would suggest that you go to www.theconsumerlink.com and click on appliance parts. Stroll down to T-Fal and search the detachable cord that is possibly the one you need for your fryer.

Use DeBruce Polish to pacify the steel, we get DeBruce Polish at debrucepolish.com. We especially like it on Ceramic cook tops, refrigerators, stainless steel grills that rust- DeBruce removes it all. Debruce is ECO-FRIENDLY we love it, having replaced 6 products under our sinks DeBruce paid for itself.

It's probably the 'thermal' protective device installed in the circuit with the heating element. Many appliances are equipped with this kind of protection (i.e., coffee pots, electric skillets, rice cookers, crockpots, etc.). As the appliance ages, this device starts to fail and then finally 'gives up' and an 'open' circuit occurs and the heating elements don't receive power to heat up. If you have appliance repair experience, this component can be purchaced at most appliance repair shops. If you are not so inclined, it's best to have a qualified appliance repair technician diagnose the problem and repair it (if you want to keep the fryer).

Hope this helps you.
