Raymarine Linear Feedback Unit For Outboard Engines, 12" Questions & Answers
I have a 4o hp outboard marinier and when u give
It is most likely a damaged prop. If the gear shift handle is steady while it is slipping, Your prop needs to go to the shop for a re hub. Take a punch and mark the center of the prop (the hub) ,then mark the blade of the prop in alignment. Try it out and see if the marks still line up. If they have moved- the prop is bad.
Lost keys to my pontoon boat put a new switch in
You need to get the 6 pin switch. Then find out what type ignition you have as they all wire to the 6 pin switch different.A cdi ignition will need to be grounded out to quit. As a magneto. The battery powered cd ig will need to break the positive power to quit, as will straight battery. If you wire it wrong- you could be looking at $300 or more switch box.Your 3 pin is most likely a generic battery ignition car switch which has a power/ignition/starter. set of terminals.
I have twin 2004/2005 90
sorry but its a carb ,i nearly bought a honda engine with like this but i plumped for the mercury with fuel injection ,you will need to remove the carbs and put them on the kitchen table and strip and clean them right out then rebuild and refit and get the mixture on the idle right ,fuel to air mix should be about 14 to one ,this is done on a jet on the side which i suspèct is corroded and blocked ,then their should be a air bleed screw as well ,if this all to complicated which it is then get the man from the dealer to do it for you .you have a idle jet .compound jet and a main jet and trust me if you do not know then dont play with it .On my single outboard i rewired it so when its warm i can put in drive and start in drive to stop wear on the dog clutches ,dont like changing them either as they are expensive and difficult when engine is used in salt water and the bolts corrode ,also change oil regular in the bottom diff unit ,i do mine every year when i paint the bottom ,and i use car diff oil EP90 as that mercury stuff is so expensive and i begrudge paying for it when i have drums of oil here in the yard ,i also use the car spark plugs and oil filter for a panda .When you are moored up and not using the engines take the covers off and in the bottom of the float chambers are drain screws ,so when parked up just drain the carbs of fuel and then they will not clog up with that white powder where the petrol dries out
My old feedback unit has a red, white, and black
If you run the wire to the CPU the color code is on the CPU. If it is a ST5000 series product the wire would need to be run to the back of the control head. Both the CPU and the control heads are clearly marked for the color codes.
My outboard wont start
if you have spark and fuel it should atleast fire when you spray fuel in the carbs. if your spraying it just into the air intake it may not be making it to the intake manifold. have you checked the fuel pump? you also need to check for the possibility of a air leak in the fuel system causing the motor to fail to run because it has a very lean fuel mixture. check all fuel lines, fuel tank, couplers and carb gaskets. if you havent take the air intake cover off and try spraying some wd 40 or other mildly flammable product and see if the motor will fire that way. its likely the fuel tank or fuel lines are the problem from my point of view. good luck.
15hp mariner only idels with the choke out
Hello! Draining the tank was a necessary move. You will need to remove carburetor, take it apart and clean it. It is a an easy job; they are quite simple. All you will need is a new gasket and you can make one. If the fuel filter is inside the gas tank, take it out and clean. If it's an inline filter you can replace it with an ordinary lawnmower inline. Use a carburetor cleaning solution. When you reassemble, lube the choke so it moves freely. Also clean the gas line.
Dry all spark generation parts. A hair dryer works well.

The Raymarine ST8002 Smartpilot the unit powers up but does not work when the auto mode is selected. The hydraulic motor does not engage when a course is set. What could be the source of the fault?
According to a post on the Raymarine forum, this error message could indicate an issue with either the steering, the drive unit, the rudder reference unit (if fitted), or the course computer . The post suggests a few tests that you can do yourself to figure out which item is causing the issue.
I suggest that you try the following steps:
Check the connections between the ST8002 SmartPilot and the other components of your autopilot system.
Check the calibration of the ST8002 SmartPilot and the other components of your autopilot system.
Check the hydraulic fluid level and the hydraulic pump pressure.
Check the hydraulic pump motor and the hydraulic pump solenoid valve.
If none of these steps work, I recommend that you contact Raymarine customer support for further assistance.

How do I connect my garmin 741sx with my raymarine St 4000 with nmea 183
To connect your Garmin 741sx with your Raymarine ST 4000 using NMEA 183, you will need an NMEA 0183 interface cable to connect the two devices. Here are the steps to follow:
- Obtain an NMEA 0183 interface cable that has the correct connectors for your Garmin 741sx and Raymarine ST 4000.
- Connect one end of the NMEA 0183 interface cable to the NMEA output of your Garmin 741sx.
- Connect the other end of the NMEA 0183 interface cable to the NMEA input of your Raymarine ST 4000.
- Configure your Garmin 741sx to output NMEA 0183 data. Refer to your Garmin 741sx manual for instructions on how to configure NMEA output.
- Configure your Raymarine ST 4000 to receive NMEA 0183 data. Refer to your Raymarine ST 4000 manual for instructions on how to configure NMEA input.
- Once both devices are configured, the data from the Garmin 741sx should be transmitted to the Raymarine ST 4000 via the NMEA 0183 interface cable.
