My dehumidifier model AD25GUSX runs fine but does not take the moisture out of the air anymore

Capacitor If your dehumidifier is no longer pulling water from the air and you have verified that the ambient room temperature is above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, then the unit's compressor may not be running. The compressor is the pump that circulates the refrigerant through the evaporator to extract moisture from the air. There is a capacitor in the compressor circuit to help the compressor motor to start and if the capacitor has failed then the compressor won't run. If the compressor doesn't run or if the overload device continues to trip, then you may have a defective capacitor. An accurate diagnosis can be determined by a qualified person using special test equipment. Overload If your dehumidifier is no longer pulling water from the air and you have verified that the ambient room temperature is above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, then the unit's compressor may not be running. The compressor is the pump that circulates the refrigerant through the evaporator to extract moisture from the air. There is a device in the compressor circuit called an overload and it is used to protect the compressor motor from damage. If the overload has failed then the compressor won't start. If you have verified that the compressor doesn't run, then you can test the overload for continuity with a multi-meter. A common cause for the overload to fail is from operating the dehumidifier on long or undersized extension cords. Fan Motor If your dehumidifier is not making water and you have verified that the ambient temperature is above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, then you may have a faulty fan motor. For proper operation, a dehumidifier needs to have an adequate amount of air blowing across the evaporator coils to prevent frost or ice buildup. If you feel little or no air coming through the grille area and the filter is clean, then remove the cover and check the fan area. Inspect the coils to make sure that they are not restricted with lint or dirt and clean them if necessary. Make sure that the fan motor rotates freely and that the fan blade or blower wheel is firmly attached to the motor shaft. Using caution, operate the unit in a fan only mode and observe the fan motor. If it hums but does not rotate or only rotates slowly then it is defective and will need to be replaced. If the motor does not rotate and does not appear to make any sound, it may still be defective, but will require further testing by someone who is comfortable with using a multi-meter and working with live electrical circuits. Electronic Control Board or PCB Assembly If your dehumidifier is no longer pulling water from the air and you have verified that the ambient room temperature is above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, then the unit's compressor or fan motor may not be operating. The compressor is the pump that circulates the refrigerant through the evaporator, and the fan motor blows air across the evaporator coils to extract the moisture. On some modern dehumidifiers an electronic control board, often called the PCB, is used to control the compressor and fan motor. The control board has sensors connected to it that monitor the relative humidity and when the level is higher than the control setting, the control board will activate relays to turn on the compressor and fan motor. If you have an electronic control model and the compressor or the fan is not operating, then the electronic control may be at fault. A voltage test, using a multi-meter at the output relays, would be required to help in the diagnosis as well as confirmation that the sensors are operating normally.

Dehumidifier leaking onto floor.

You should clean off the condensor coils with a vaccum and soft brush. Also, check up inside the area where the condensate drips into the collection reservoir (or goes directly into a hose attachment discharge) to see if something is partially obstructing the water flow and is dripping onto the floor, etc.

You might find that you've got some buildup of dust, dirt, and some other gunk that is mis-directing the water (condesate) that the dehumidifier is drawing out of the air.

Lastly, check the unit to see if it's level, but frankly, I highly doubt that's the issue, based on the 5+ years of good working service for you.

So long as the unit is still running and keeping the humidity in check, (if the above steps don't resolve the issue), I'd continue using it until it finally quits running, but I'd put a plastic boot/shoe mat under it to catch the small puddles of water.

The dehumidifier should draw the small puddles, so it'd be less expensive to get a $4 boot mat than dropping another $240+ for a new unit, as your's seems to be working fine, aside from the occaissional puddle issue.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

It keeps frosting.dehumidifier garrison model no. 043-6120-6

Freon pressures are not correct, they are a little low. Also, check any air flow path and clean out any dust that may block the flow.

I have a Whirlpool model WHAD303AW humidifier and just took out of box and plugged in and it had error code EH. I did turn it upside down to put wheels on, and attached a garden hose to it. Did I do something wrong? I waited a day with it unplugged, and tried it again with same error.

The EC code means the sealed system and condenser is defective and the unit is not repairable. The coils are either freezing and stop functioning or just not condensing at all. You can temporarily reset it by unplugging it, but the unit is going bad regardless and will quit functioning pretty quickly afterwards.

Call the number on the sticker on the back of the unit. It has the model# along with the Serial# and talk with customer service. They will send you an e-mail with instructions, follow the instructions and they will send you a new unit, all you have to do is remove the sticker and stick it on the instruction sheet and cut the cord. Take a picture of the cord and mail in the instruction sheet and they will send you a new unit.

I just have had my new dehumidifier running since Friday and when started the humidity said 60,went down and checked it today and it still says 60,I have it set for 40,is this unusual after two days?

If your dehumidifier is working it will be extracting water from the atmosphere, into a container that will or should need emptying fairly regularly. If it is working ok it isn't necessarily going to significantly reduce the humidity in the room as most rooms are connected to the outside world in a number of ways...

I have a Garrison dehumidifier model # 1028311. I get a EC on control panel. I checked temp of room and it is 60 degrees in room. Sometimes it will trip the breaker. what do I do about this?

You need to check that actual amp draw of the unit. It could be the unit has an issue or you have a breaker that could be failing. Unless I know what the actual amp draw is, I can't tell you where to start looking

Opinions on lowering fan speed to obtain lower humidity .

It will help as long as you have enough airflow over the coil to prevent it from icing over. The longer the AC runs the more moisture it can remove. However, before you change the fan speed be sure Saturation is correct. As I hinted too low of a fan speed can also have repercussions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtYgi9wKTcQ
