How do I get the base off my Vitamix without the "special" tool?

I have a large set of slip joint pliers that I place jaws up in the vice and engage into that large nut up the base of the jar. Here is a link to a photo on an auction site local to me to show what the pliers I use look like, it's the New Zealand eBay equivalent site. http://www.trademe.co.nz/building-renovation/tools/hand-tools/pliers/auction-817772271.htm

I have a Vita-Mix blender that is not performing right. Sounds like gear may be striped or slipping in and out of engagement. What can I do?

You may well find a small appliance repairer (not aligned to the manufacturer) locally who will take a look; alternatively, why not risk stripping it out yourself and taking a look?

The drive stud on my vitamix 3600 blender sheared off. When screw is replaced it comes unscrewed when the blender is turned on. Does anyone know if the original design included epoxy weld?

If the motor runs in reverse to an Oster which uses counter clockwise thread then it follows that your thread should not be counter clockwise. If it comes loose when you turn it on surely the thread on the coupling must be faulty because according to your description the action of turning it on can only be to tighten the coupling. Most couplings with a thread that I have seen are counter clockwise so you will probably struggle to find another brand coupling to match.

Vitamin 3600 canister leak

I think it's the little washer in the blade assmbly since mine was worn to a sliver when it started doing what yours did. I replaced it with a similar washer and it worked for a week and then started spitting out metallic dust until it stopped working again. Could be the bearing seized. I would say yes a new blade assembly but I hadn't found one- since I have a 3600 which is very old-when my husband bought a used replacement container with a working blade assembly on ebay. $37 bucks, problem solved.

Vitamix troubleshooting

Track continuity inside with a multi meter. Pay attention to continuity of switches, they are a bit unreliable design.

Why is my vitamix leaking?

Probably the bearings in the blade assembly are wrecked, replace the blade assembly with a new genuine part. Someone here has fitted aftermarket bearings but I do not know how much gear they required to do the job. Search onsite for solutions may reveal more
