Acomdata ext hd
first thing to do is check this hard drive on another known to be operational computer system, if it continues to show the red light and chirping, then you need to replace the enclosure with a known to be operational one, take your drive out of yours, install it in another case and retest. if it still chirps you a damaged hard drive. .. usually the case is the not at fault.

My windows 7 (x64) will not Acknowledge My AcomData HD250FAPE5-72 External Hard Drive, What do I do.
Having looked at the review of this device, it doesn't sound good. There is a problem with these but if it shows up in explorer you can use it. The other problem is that it is not windows 7 recommended. Have you tried to use it with the firewire connection? You may have better luck, but Windows 7 has to have "Signed Drivers" for all hardware (they have to be vetted by Microsoft) Good luck.

Computer not reading
Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact. Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.
Will an Acomdata external hard drive (Model # HD25OUHES5-72, Serial # C1005093) work with Windows 7
Windows 7 is a pain with large external hard drives you might get messages saying the hard drive needs to be checked or formatted do you want to check the disk now or do you want to format it now. When there is nothing wrong with it at all.External hard drives can be used on most computers and operating systems with minimal or no requirements other than leads and drivers.Try it and good luck.Hope this helps

Reformatting External Hard Drive
It depends upon where you want to install the hard drive, ie inside your computer as a Boot drive or as a 2nd hard drive (slave) or as an external USB hard drive.Let me know what you intend to do with this hard drive and I can advise you accordingly.

Hard drive doesnt show
Test all leads that attach to
your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your
((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and
are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch
floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they
could be faulty ?
one bad lead will end with a computer error a computer needs its connections continue its
cycle and have an end to function properly
even something as small as an electrical extension or a
faulty fan lead can cause this problem follow the troubleshooting procedure a
computer needs all of the data and electrical current to travel through every
device and to have an end to be able work properly
a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will
fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin
type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical
extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives
need to have current go through make sure these drives are working also it
could be a dirty computer clean all of the dust from your computer you could
use a vacuum cleaner but whatever you use make absolutely sure there is no
moisture gets to anything in your computer and before you touch anything be
sure to wear an earth strap hope this
helps
