Dear sirs My start button does not turn on the unit----no lighting on control panel. I have cleaned the filters& they are ok Electric to wall outlet is on Where do I go from here?

On/off switch stuck Brookstone air filter 561274, can't open top to get to switch

there are two very small screws just above the on/off switch. Once you unscrew those two, you can use a knife (carefully) to lift the on/off panel out of the air filter. I just did this. My problem is now that I don't understand how the on/off button is supposed to work at all.. there was no spring or anything I can see that could have pushed the on/off button back up. I am considering just leaving the actual button out and pushing the microswitch directly. Looks like bad engineering to me.
