I need a new power amp for a JBL PB12 Subwoofer
Alf, when there is no parts available you have to start looking at local non authorized repair shops that will inspect and repair the board instead of trying to source a replacement board.
This can be very difficult and could make for alot of expensive deposits. Running out of parts is an ongoing problem with all electronics and sometimes replacement is the most cost effective option.
Cheers,
Kevin

You have an overload in the power supply or main amp of the subwoofer, often caused by short circuited transistor. Check this out by putting an ohm meter probe to each of it's legs. If it acts like you were touching the probes together you have found a guilty part.

It sounds like something on your main board of your amp is going out. It is most likely the finals, or as you said a capacitor. Test the port with another speaker, if al is well then the wooferis bad. if not you will have to go inside the amp for repair. Depending on the brand it can be a little complicated. Try and narror it down to the proper componet, post back the results and we will go from there. Also is this sound comming from all channels or just the woofer?

Jbl 12 subwoofer loud noise
Hiya, could be the power supply or possibly the amp circuit that has gone. If there are electronic guys in your area, they should be able to sort it out relatively easily. Get a quote first, make sure it is in economical repair as well, but it can be repaired
