First of all confirm if the hum is an internal or external problem.
Disconnect the RCA sub woofer input from the back of the unit and turn it on. If there is no hum it could be the interconnecting cable or the output from the receiver. But in the stand alone mode if the sub woofer hums when powered on you have internal problem and will have to be looked into by a professional.
Many a time the earth or the shield of the interconnecting cable is the culprit, because the sub sits on the floor and you might shift it for cleaning the floor and the cable can stretch and snap internally.

Have you tried to heat the joints with a heat gun. It could loosen the glue enough for you to remove the panel. Be careful not to apply too much heat. Start low on the back so if the heat discolors the veener it will be in a location that will not be seen. Alternatively a utility knife might be able to split the glue in the joint. Hard to tell since there is no picture of the case.

Check your grounding spot, u need your ground wire to be in direct contact with the chasis and no paint.

You may have a bad Audio output amplifier inside the woofer itself, if possible connect the woofer to another system to verify the woffer needs replacing or repaired, may a friends unit.

If I am going to have a car and do a lot of audio installations, I try and order the manual for it. The manual usually has a full wiring schematic. You might call down to your local Toyota dealership and see if they can help you with the wiring schematic.

Also, you could just run new speaker wires. I know its a pain, but that is another alternative. With that being a newer car though I can understand not wanting to start tearing off internal moldings.

The causes can be poor connection in the signal input lead, could be the mixer you use, could be a speaker failurs, could be an amplifier failure.

Could be either or both. You will have to fault find to get an answer.
