What model of JVC? Portable, table-top hi-fi type, model number? If case-type with a bezel, which ejects, maybe the ejection mechanism is faulty. There's at least one article in TIPS for this. Otherwise if it has a pinhole at the front, bezel type, shove a paper-clip firmly in to manually eject.

Before you do anything else, make sure no tiny strands of speaker wire from one channel haven't got in contact with the speaker wires from the other channel.
