Altec Lansing Inmotion-IM600 (0021986954446) Docking Station - Page 6 Questions & Answers
My IM600 won't power up.
Did you accidentally get the unit wet? I've been touching the power and volume buttons with wet fingers, and my unit just died. Also found a bit of a sticky residue on the pin inside the power connector on the back. I believe the button design allows for water to leak in, resulting in a short circuit.
Remote control does not work
The battery sits in a little plstic "basket". I fixed my problem by placing a very narrow piece of electrical tape at the back of the basket. This forces the battery forward by the thickness of the tape. This allowed for a more positive connection of the battery to the power pick-ups.

5th generation iPods hose up while using Altec Lansing IM600
Yes, the docking station is damaging the iPod. The vibration when used load is causing damage to the iPod. If you notice, the iPod will only freeze when it is playing load in the docking station. To avoid the problem, you'll need to play the music at a lower sound with less vibration. Once I began to play my music at more reasonable sound levels, I discontinued the problem. Very disappointing solution...but it is the answer. I too called Altec Lansing. They are not aware of this issue...I told them to search the internet - it's all out there.
Doesnt charge ipod nano
I called Altec Lansing technical support (1-800-258-3288) and stated the problem with the 4th generation nanos not charging. The man I spoke with was aware of the problem and will ship a new unit to anyone calling in with the same issue. I am required to send my unit back to them and they will ship a new unit with a different pin configuration that will solve the problem. You are required to ship the unit with proof of purchase (copy of receipt) to the address they provide in Milford, PA. You will only be out the shipping charges to get it there. He mentioned that I should receive a new unit (Not Rebuilt) around 10 days after they receive mine.
No power, broke my ipod
I experienced similar problems with my unit.
I fixed my iPod by simply resetting it (hold on, hold off, hold the menu and centre button for about 5 secs.)
My im600 seems to have some problems with the power button, but if I use the remote of just keep pressing the button till it powers on, I have no problems.
Speakers won't work when Ipod is docked
The problem is that Atlec Lansing used a low quality (piece of ****) plug/interface for the dock. If you pull the top of the ipod forward while it is pressed fully onto the docking station, you'll get a surprise. It will work. This problem stumped me for days. Now, the next question is how much tension is the proper amount not to degrade the cheap plug further or damage the ipod itself.
Cheers,
Jeff
My im600 is new but
First of all, did you fully charge the battery using the A/C adapter before initial use? If your ipod does not fit with any of the attachments correctly, try just placing it on the dock without the attachment & it should connect fine just be sure it's connecting to the dock properly. I have the ipod nano 2nd generation & the attachments don't work, but it fits on the dock well without the attachments & works great!
Battery into wireless remote?
Turn the remote upside down, so the back side is facing you. Where the lines are on the bottom, take your thumb & move it in towards the right & pull towards you to open. Place the battery in the tray (you'll see it fits right in the slot) with the words on the battery facing up. Slide the tray back into the remote.
Hope this helps :)
Dock wont charge
1 the connection of portable devices, just may not be working, or it could be loose( try pushing it all the way, until it doesn't go down).
2 and if that, doesn't work. Then try finding another AC adapter that has the same energy output.
(when you look at the paper that is posted on the front of the ac adapter, you can two sections INPUT and OUTPUT) try finding another adapter that has the same OUTPUT numbers and plug it into the device.
3 Lastly. If the device is not new, then the battery may be dead, and it won't charge anymore.
try steps 1 to 3 and see if any of those solve your problem.
good day
Altec Lansing InMotion iM600
Now here's a trick. The iM600's volume is not affected by your iPod's internal volume. Because the iM600 plugs in directly to your iPod's system connection, it captures the signal before it hits the iPod's headphone amplifier, making it less prone to the distortion it would face by being amplified twice. This also means that you can listen to your docked iPod over headphones using the internal volume control even if the iM600's volume is set to zero.
