The Device does not say if it is charging

It usually needs to be left for a while until it start recharging, a few minutes or so. If this does not solve anything then it would be best for You to bring it back for servicing.

Maestro 4250 frozen after incomplete 2009 map up date

I had same problem on 3/28/09.

According to Magellan and other people who have experienced the same problem, this is terminal to the unit. It can be caused by downloading the 08/09 Magellan map upgrade, which can cause the unit to permanently lock up. Magellan is well aware of the problem, and should offer to replace your unit if you have the problem. If you elect to have it repaired, Magellan can download the map upgrade for you in the repair process. Here is a site noting the same problem: http://74.125.93.104/search?q=cache:pNLjGT-i4-sJ:forums.gpsreview.net/viewtopic.php%3Ft%3D8958+magellan+4250+gps+stays+on+blue+screen&cd=8&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Questions for Magellan: 1) why would they sell, in 2009, gps units with old 2007 maps loaded in them, requiring the purchaser to buy a current map, and 2) if there is a problem with downloading the current maps, why is there not an advisement or warning to the installer.

Other than replacing the unit, there appears to be no "fix".

No code for gps

Hi what code are you referring to with this unit?

Factory code, security code? Can you please post the exact message coming up on the unit and any more specific information about the problem especially when you need to enter this code (Is it immediately or after going to a certain part of the unit?). Also, is the code referring to a paid subscription that is needed, which if this is the case, you will need to pay for the subscription to get the code.

Thanks

Benjamin

Magellan Maestro 4220.....color of screen changed on it's own.

On the bottom of the unit there is a reset button. The button is recessed, so you have to use a the tip of a ball point pin or something similar to reset. Mine did the same thing and that fixed it.

Software update

Here's a link to the website for your unit. If you click on the 3rd line under "facts" it will take you to a page where you can register to receive map updates. Good luck. If this helps you plz rate this. Thank you kindly.

Broken touch screen

if it is cracked then most likely it will need to be sent back to the manufacturer for repairs. If its not working correctly you could always try to do a screen calibration.

Turn it on

To protect the internal battery the GPS device will not power on until the battery is recharged to a specific level. You will have to charge up the battery before attempting to powering on the GPS device even when connected to external power. If charging the battery for an extended period of time does not resolve the issue please contact support online through chat at http://www.magellangps.com/support. Thank you.

Map not coming. when it plug

If your unit does not power on - at all - it may be a faulty power cord/adapter. If no longer under warranty, you can sometimes find replacement cords on Ebay for around $10-20. If you do get power, sometimes updating the unit (through your computer) will solve the problem. If that doesn't help, the company offers online chat support and a support number, 800-707-9971, to get you going again. Good luck.
