If you're using a router and need the routers IP it should be 192.168.1.1

The problem you are experiencing is closely related to the dreaded RROD (Red Ring of Death). It has the same causes and solutions. I suggest getting an experienced person to repair your console for you. Take care that no one is doing the "Towel Trick" instead of an actual repair.

Ram and Harddisk space are two different things. You can not upgrade the ram in the 360, but you can add a Harddrive to it.
It does have to be a 360 hard drive though, all the retailers that sell the console should also sell these.

I have this router and have just enabled the NAT settings from Strict to Open:-

1. Log into router's IP address (192.168.1.1) and enter password. Select "Advanced Setup".

2. Click on Advanced on left hand menu and select UPnP

3. Check all three boxes in window and click on Apply

4. Close router configuration window and run XBox test again. Worked for me!

umm dude have a memory card or usb device in the xbox it will ask to selct device which is totally stupid dude just simply remove the device then update it and then reinsert after its completely done updating

ive never delaed with x boxes before but I think your problem is that your x box isnt meant to do that but as i said before Ive never dealed with x box

This is a very common problem that I've even come across. I would recommend that you replace the CD Drive with a new one that you can order online. Before you do any of that you should first troubleshoot it and and maybe take a can of compressed air to blow the CD Drive out a little.

Another thing you can do is to make sure the disc is completely clean.

it might be scratched and you can get a tiny layer of plastic scratched off the bottom and make it playable again, at a local cd store or electronic store for price that wont put a dent in your wallet.

take your xbox rap it up in 3 or 4 layers and let it over heat itself it is like a really hard reset

if you are trying to play your mp3s through the usb port via a ipod ect the newest update from microsoft stopped all this because of people playing games ect via large usb hard drives that were plugged in via usb ports, it wont help you any but at least you know why!

i would conatct microsoft and check if you xbox is still under warrenty if not i suggest this solution however it does involve opening your console and it will void any warranty so please consider contacting microsoft and speak to them before trying this:

e74 or rrod error means that there is an hardware issue.
What you need to do is a very simple and cheap repair.
look on ebay for x clamp repair kits, these are just a few bucks and most sellers include a good guide in how to do the mod/fix.
what causes the rrod or e74 error is the X shape clamp on the underside or the mother board bending and mis-shaping causing the ball soldering on the gpu/cpu slightly melting and forming hairline cracks in the solder.
The x-clamp kit will apply more pressure to the gpu/cpu and a little trick of disconnecting the fans and turning on the xbox and allowing it to overheat will re melt the solder ball joints to fill the hairline cracks.
Depending on which chip is the issue you may also need a 2000 watt heat gun instead of using the over heating method (the gpu chip).
Replacing the heat pads on the heat sink with thermal paste which comes with the kit will keep the gpu/cpu cooler and you wont have this issue again.
Please make sure you buy the kit which comes with heat treated nylon washers as the steel spring washes fail!.
The repair takes around 1-2 hours

This seems to be the next ROD issue. The video cards/chips on the XBOX360 seem to having the same issues as the CPU. In the ROD issue, the CPU heat sink is coming lose due to warping or other issues. The same thing is happening for the video. When it comes loose, you will lose some of your colors and/or all video. For me, mine turned green then later nothing. But I had sound still. The XBOX repair places should be able to fix it or there is a kit you can get online.

Usually this indicates that someone has hit the CLOSED CAPTION button or possibly the PIP (picture in picture) button on the TV remote. There is nothing wrong with the xbox, it is actually a setting on your TV. Check the remote to see how you can disable closed captions.

Your xbox is overheated, this is becuase of dust clogging up in the fan at the back of your xbox. There is only 1 solution for this and that is that you will need to get a new xbox OR use a heat gun which you will need expert help with. Thanks
