My xbox 360 has a problem when i do this update a

Sounds like bad news, I'm afraid. Are all four lights red on the front of your XBOX 360? Or only 3?

If your 360 is still under warranty, contact Microsoft to get them to fix it free. Check out support.xbox.com

Halo3 and game freezes GTA IV as well

Try using a DVD cleaning disk, It's odd that it would have a dirty lens if it is somewhat new still. Also, try seeing if it freezes when you turn the xbox on (with game inside) by using the main button on the console. For some reason certain games will freeze randomly if you turn your system on with the controller (I'm not sure why yet)

If that doesn't work, you will most likely need to contact microsoft, a new game should not stall a new xbox. Your xbox should be under warranty for internal issues ( Don't open it yourself )

I dont know how to set up xbox live help me

Most people say they get a free month when they sign up for xbox 360 for the first time. I was one of those people so I can confirm it. They are two way to do it, online with a PC and with the 360 itself.

go to this link: xbox live signup .Once you get there you will have options. There is a free Silver version that lets you download demos and DLC. This can be upgraded to gold later so you can play online.

You can also sign up for gold but you will need to use a credit card or use a code you can purchase at a electronics, department store or even 711. To redeem a code there is a little menu on the left of the screen. Click redeem code and click on "redeem code" and it will ask you for the code. Put your code in these and your good to go!

To sign up with your xbox be sure you have your xbox connected to the internet and start it. When you start it go into the menu and choose the "try xbox live" option or "sign up for xbox live"......sorry I forget what it is says exactly. Go thru much of the same process.

You will also need a "microsoft passport" it will tie in things like your msn email and msn screenname.

Comment back if you need anymore help or with more questions.

see you on live!!!!

Xbox360 error74 what do i do ?

This is a fatal error on the board of the unit. This is caused by the unit overheating and causing solder on the board to melt and bridge(connect). Once this happens it shorts out the board causing the error you have now. Contact Microsoft and see if the unit is still under warranty.

I have just got a wireless xbox an i have pluged

Do you mean you got a wireless adapter?
This is taken off the support site from xbox. Also try to unplug your router for a min and plug it back in. It is called a power cycle. That is what I had to do.

To set up your wireless adapter:
  1. In the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
  2. Select Network Settings, Configure Network.
  3. On the Basic Settings tab, select your wireless settings.
  4. Select the name (SSID) of your wireless network. If your router isn't broadcasting your network's name, select Specify Unlisted Network and enter the name.
  5. If your network has wireless security, enter your WEP or WPA key.
  6. Try to connect to Xbox LIVE again.

Xbox 360

if your consoles out of warranty open up the disc drive and on the bottom there is 2 screws that the laser rails rest on. as the console vibrates they can come loose over time so most likely one or both have come slightly loose. give them a quarter turn to tighten them a little then test the drive with a game. keep doing little adjustments till the game reads. this worked for me on all consoles i seen with the open tray msg. give the laser a clean too while its apart. always helps :D

Standard definition TVs loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); If you connect your Xbox 360 console to a standard definition TV, follow these steps to set the Xbox 360 display settings to PAL 60 Hz:
  1. Turn on the Xbox 360 console.
  2. In the Xbox Dashboard, select System, and then press the A button.
  3. Select Console Settings, and then press the A button.
  4. Select Display, and then press the A button.
  5. Select PAL settings, and then press the A button.
  6. Select PAL-60, and then press the A button.
  7. When you are prompted to keep these new settings, confirm the settings, and then press the A button.
Note Some older TVs do not support PAL 60 Hz. If you do not know whether your TV supports PAL 60 Hz, contact the manufacturer of your TV or see the owner's manual.

When I try to play a game. I am told I need a hard

You have an arcade, which can mostly only play basic games. All you need is a 20 GB Hard Drive, which is about $30 to $40. Hope this helps.

Taking 5/6 attempts to read disc

The laser inside may be dirty or damaged. If it is broken it wouldn't even read the disc at all.

If you still have the receipt take it back to where you bought it and exchange it.

My son just knocked my console while i was playing

I'm very sorry. I'm not sure what kind of advice you're looking for. Your disc is damaged and you will need a replacement.

Microsoft tried to offer a warranty for this. Unfortunately they only cover certain games, and usually charge you $20.

I suggest, for your best bet, call Microsoft at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX and speak to a representative. Tell them that you didn't TOUCH the console. Tell them you were playing, you heard a grinding noise, and you found that it was scratched. Then demand that you receive a replacement.

This is the best advice anyone could really give you in this situation. I wish you the best of luck.
