Do you have a soldering gun? Its not that hard to fix, get the capacitors on ebay for $6-$8 with shipping.

Personally, I've never seen a monitor damage a motherboard. Since monitors have their own power source, the HP answer of the monitor "drawing too much power" is bogus.

Possible failures could include the following:

1. Failing Power Supply - if you haven't tried a different power source, then that is the 1st thing I'd look at, expecially if another system will run the monitor.
2. A peripheral item, (Keyboard, Mouse, Printer, scanner or other USB device is preventing POST completion of boot completion.) try booting system with just video and power, nothing else.
3. Check the monitor cable for bent/broken pins. I have seen bent pins on a cable connection short out a video card, this could cause a no post if the video is integrated.
4. I just reviewed the HP site on this system, and it appears to ship with a PCI-E video card. It appears most likely that the Video Card (If one is installed). If you have the PCI-E video card in system, remove it, and connect to the intergrated video connection and see if ystem posts.

after removing all the screws, i used a knife to remove the plastic casing surrounding the monitor. that exposed four screws that when removed, released the base from the monitor. it was just a matter of putting the casing back together. thanks

did your monitor support 1440X900 resolution. if yes then go to desktop properties then change the resolution to 1440X900 then play the game.
if not support then remove the game from your pc.

Press windows key + r key and type control panel and press enter Or click start windows button then type control panel under the search program of files then press enter. Once your in control panel look for the display icon and click it, and on the left pane of the screen you can see there is a calibrate color click it. Simply click next button, click next button again, click next button again, click next button again, click next button again, click next button again, click next button again, click next button again, click next button again, now slide the red, blue and green color to the max settings.
