HELP ME PLEASE!!!
I forgot my password for my SanDisk cruzer micro 8GB U3 launchpad jump drive
and after entering the wrong password too many times (I really thought I
remembered it) this message came up:
You have reached the maximum number of failed password attempts. For security
reasons, all data and programs on your U3 device are now permanently
inaccessible. You have to erase all data to continue using your U3 smart drive.
Click 'Erase' button to erase all device data or click 'Cancel' to abort the launchpad
and decide later
Please can somebody show a way of overriding this. I haven't yet erased any
data. I can't bring myself to. Everything is on this drive, my whole life
basically and stupid me never bothered to backup everything. My life literally
hangs in the balance. I can't stress how important this is. If someone could
even point me in the right direction i would be so grateful.
My Micro Sandisk Cruzer USB U3 (16GB) indicates the error the disk in drive I is not formatted, Do you want to format it now? How do you resolve this without reformatting and lost of data?

Forgot password. Now the thumb drive is lucked up with only option to errase all data. Can this be remedied
Try the data recovery using Sandisk Recovery Pro. It might be of help.
Download it from:
http://rapidshare.com/files/81879037/SanDisk.RescuePRO.Deluxe.v4.0.Multilingual.zip
And install it. Then run it.
If it doesn't help, there are other tools that might be of help.

Deboo

I am plugging in my usb flashdrive and nothing pops up or is in my computer... I wanted to see if i could still retrieve the data somehow.. it is mostly pictures and microsoft word documents.. thank you
Do you have a drive letter F already on your computer? If so, many USB flash drives try to use that drive letter and do not show up in your "My Computer".
You can go to your disk manager and see if the disk is actually present:
right click on your My Computer icon -> manage
choose Disk management
See if the flash drive is listed. If not, try another USB port - still not? Drive may be bad :-(
If the drive is listed, right click on the square to the left side and choose "change drive letter" Change it to an unused letter, such as "U". Check your My Computer, it will be there
Hope this helps

TRY SOME OF THESE STEPS BEFORE YOU THROW IT
I devised these simple steps that tend to remedy quite a few issues with most USB portable / external hard drives and OTHER devices (though not always)
A few things to check but assumes USB and Windows for other interfaces / operating systems (mac/ Linux) similar steps may be adapted to suit.
1. Ensure it is connected directly to the computer to a USB 2.0 port not a USB 1.0 port as this can have effects on performance and reliability
2. Use only the cables that came with it NOT one that fits that may have been lying around or is longer. Not all USB cables are equal even though they should be)
3. Do not connect through an external USB HUB unless that hub is USB 2.0 AND has its own power supply.
4. Use ONLY the power supply that came with it if it has an external power supply Don’t use any other unless you know it has both the same voltage and current rating e.g. 12V 500mA anything rated below that would not work properly.
5. Always use the same port for connecting your devices. Some devices do not like being switched about. If switched they may want to install software / drivers again. This can be especially true if you move a HUB to another port
If you checked and fixed anything there and still have issues then check your hardware from CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / HARDWARE.
Any exclamation marks by hardware need fixing before you investigate any further
USB flash drives can fail for no apparent reason.
Sandisk Cruzers are especially bad for this.
USB hard drives should be treated with extreme care.
This is a real hard drive ! and knocks and bumps can quite literally kill them.
It is possible to remove drives from the enclosures in most cases and connect directly inside a PC to fully check it.
Note that if you hear a drive clicking or pinging this could be the worst thing you would hear.
Known as "The Click Of Death"
If none of the above steps help look at updating the drivers from the manufacturers web site in the support section.

how to remove write protection from Sandisk micro cruzer thumbdrive?
LLFTOOL is a utility for low-level disk drive formatting,
also supports formatting of FLASH cards using a card-reader.
1. Download this tool:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4040651/LLFTOOL.EXE
2. Format thumbdrive
(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

win 98se detects cruzer blade 4GB but no driver software is available
The problem is that WIN98 does not have a USB driver unless you can download it from somewhere.
I suggest you upgrade Windows to at least WIN ME which will support USB devices.
