The battery will not charge

Is the charging cord defective, meaning there could be a broken wire inside the insulation?

The belt broke on my my SHARK Model V15Z and Euro

Well it's actually not so bad once you realize where they hid the screws. Gently pull outwards on either side of the housing that surrounds the brush and vacuum. There are no screws for this piece it simply snaps off and on. Once this piece is removed you'll see two phillips type screws on the side where the removable hose attaches. Remove the two screws and pull off the molded section they keep in place. The brush will now come off revealing the rotor that the belts slips over. The belt is placed over the rotor and the brush cylinder in a figure eight. Reassemble and your ready to go. Now if Shark will only help customers locate a replacement belt you may find this info useful.....

Doesn't start

Elaine, Several possibilities, bad switch, dead battery, charger not putting out proper voltage to charge battery, broken connection(s) to battery plugin. All of these problems will require testing with a volt/ohmeter to determine their viability, which means that if you're not capable of doing said tests that you'll have to take it to a shop.

How do you open the Shark V15X vacuum to get to

You will need a long skinny phillips head screw driver as many of the screw are very deep in narrow holes to prevent un authorised access. If you are only trying to reach the belt, you should only have to undo the head side of the vacuum. I hope this helps. Good luck.

My shark bagless sweeper worked

This will probably cost you more to repair than to buy a new one. Does it turn on at all?

After a full charge will only run for about a minute

If you replaced batteries that only leaves the charger,
check the charger wire for any cracks or breaks in the wire, See if you have another charger that has the same output, check on the charger for output voltage to make sure it is the same. It could also be a problem with the motor maybe a bearing that makes the motor hard to run. Does it get hot?

Replacement power supply is impossible to find...

If you look at the original power supply, there should be a label with the following details included:

Output voltage
Maximum output current
The polarity of the output connector (which bit is positive and which negative).

If you take this info to an electronics retailer, e.g. Maplins in the UK or Radio Shack in the US, they should be able to sell you a universal power supply that can be configured to match.

V1917n shark vacuum won't run

Mine did the same thing, actually both of them did. I had ordered two at the same time. I love these vacuums. They are so convenient to use and do a terrific job, at least until they acted up and did not want to run.

The first one would power up for a second or two and then quit and the three lights would flash. I tried everything to get it to work. I switched batteries and the charger cord with the new one, but still it did the same thing. So, I opened my second new one up and began using it. I worked for several months and then just here a couple of days ago it too began acting just like the first one did.

I took the corner brush off and then the rotator brush off and removed all the hair, strings, and etc., from around the brushes and also all the areas of the vacuum where any could be at. I put it all back together and it turned for several seconds and then the three lightw would flash again.

I had given up on them working again and was going to be boxing then both up and send back for replacements and was looking at buying another brand of cordless rechargeable sweeper. I had found one to buy, but still I knew that I would miss the Shark vacuums.

Well, tonight I took the second one apart again and looked at areas where I might have missed any hair or strings that might have wound around anything that might keep the brush from turning. I found some wound around the rotator brush end piece that is on the side opposite to the belt. At first I thought that a rubber gasket was worn that fit over the little metal rod that is at the end of the rotator brush, but when it still would not run, then I was thinking that the belt needed to be changed.

I have read somewhere, where someone said that it was hard to change the belts. Well, with the Shark that I have, which has three speeds and the handle that drops down in the middle so that you can vacuum under beds and etc, it is easy to change. There is a tab that you have to push that is next to the wheel on the belt side of the underside of the vacuum, and it opens to reveal the belt.

Well, when I opened it----------there was a tremendous lot of fibers and hair wrapped around the belt wheel and in the chamber leading up to the wheel that the belt attaches to the rotator brush. After taking the belt off the bottom wheel and cleaning all the hair and fibers off it and removing all the rest in the chamber, I put everything back together and it powered up and ran just like it did when I first got it.

I also got the first one working also. I don't have to send them back and have to wait a long time for replacements. Just a word of advice------------keep the rotator brush clean and the area around the belt at the bottom and anywhere else where hair and strings can wrap around. Keep a check on it weekly and it might keep them running.
