Hello Danyell,
According to the model number you provided you have a 42" Insignia plasma TV. The problem you reported with having just a blank black screen on the lower half is due to a bad lower buffer board or also called a lower scan board. The part number is LJ92-01739C and if you Google this part number you can find these online and also find some sites that may show a short video on how to replace it. Price of this board looks to be about $35. Also of note is you will find that this part number is a Samsung part number which means your Insignia TV has a Samsung plasma panel in it so the associated circuit boards will also be Samsung parts.

If they are actual buttons check to see if one is stuck. Listen for a click on each button while it is turned off so you can hear it and feel it. Another possibility could be when you moved it around somehow the internal cable that connects the buttons to a connector has slipped out or just has a bad connection. Would require you to take the bezel off to see if the internal connections are ok. Not sure what else to suggest. At least the remote works.
