Hello there.
If you are saying that the computer reboots everytime you insert the USB device, most likely the cause of this behavior is due to a virus. A virus that is currently on your pen drive. I would suggest you have it scanned first using an Anti-virus so that your computer will not be infected.

I need step by step directions to tranfer pictures
First, get the pictures on to your desktop or locate the directory where the pictures you want copied are under 'pictures' off of the Windows 7 directory.
Then you can drag and drop the directories with the mouse to the USB 2.0 Flash Drive icon under the 'computer' choice on the start menu.
My computer wont recognize this flash drive but
I don't know what your computer is...but you can try updating/rolling back the USB driver iteself (not the driver for the plug and play flash drive,, which installs automatically when you plug it in) A program which I really like for finding driver updates is Drivermax...you can download it, and on the free version you can download and install 2 drivers a day, or you can buy it for different time periods. I used to get the $10/30 day license to update all my drivers, but I like it so much I just paid to register it a couple years. ( I use it for my business) If you have done a recent update which updated the driver, you can try rolling it back to the previous version, or if not, you can try updating, or even just reinstalling the current driver. Since you didn't list any hardware, I can't direct you to one, But Drivermax will find it for you.
Wont start up
Does the light on the drive turn on? If not, try another USB slot.
I am assuming that you have a recent version of Windows. It should automatically load the drivers for the drive. If it does not, try the drive on someones machine. Does it work there?
If it does not work on someones machine, you likely have a bad drive. However, it could be that it needs to be formatted. [Write back if you need to manually format the drive].
It could be that it is just bad. However, that is fairly unusual.
Hope this gets you going.
The 8gb pny flash drive will only hold 751 mb
Most flash drives are formatted in FAT32 - back up your data first. You may be able to reformat the drive in XP and higher versions of Windows. Start > Control Panel > System (System and Security in Win7) > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage > DisK Management. Make sure the USB drive is not active (ready to remove). Delete the current volume (Action > All Tasks) on the flash drive. Then format the USB drive using the NTFS standard. (Make sure you do not reformat C: unless you are prepared to reinstall your OS)
A simpler way to get more data on a FAT32 drive is to use folders. The total number of files in the home directory (E: (if C: is the hard drive and D: is the optical drive)) is the critical limit on a FAT32 drive. (I remember a limit of 512 files but that might have been FAT16).
Third-party partitioning solutions can also be used.
I hope this helps.
