20 Most Recent SanDisk 4GB microSD High Capacity Memory Card - Page 5 Questions & Answers

SD cards only go up to 2GB, but SDHC cards go up to 32GB. The ViviCam will take any SD or SDHC card. The brand doesn't matter. The speed doesn't matter either, though a faster card may download faster if you use a card reader instead of the camera.

You should be able to find SD and SDHC cards at any department, electronics, or office-supply store, and online at their web sites if you're willing to pay shipping and wait for it.

Make sure there is no preloaded software on the card. Also make sure that it is formated properly with what the car manuel suggests.

You can use this software to try an recover pictures, http://www.cardrecovery.com/ If that doesn't work, you can still use the card again, but you will lose all your pictures. You would format your card from within your camera. You are looking for "Format" probably within the settings portion of your camera.
If this helped, please rank me.

Some older cameras and card readers are not compatible with SDHC, if this is the case you need to use SD instead.

  • Try formatting from the cmd prompt. If that doesn't work you could have a bad disk or your reader isn't working properly.

Hi, a 4 GB card should be okay for the 2690, as long as it is one of the supported memory card types. The 2690 can accept memory cards up to 8 GB.

If the problem is partitioning you ned to run fdisk or similar to repartition. You will loose all data in the process. See e,g, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255867 which describes the process for a HDD.

it should work fine. maybe the memory card is faulty.
have you tried the card in anything else to check that it works properly?

id1102_e3sdhc.gifSOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.

There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.

NOTE: If you are using a microSD/microSDHC card or a miniSD/miniSDHC card, insert the card into the standard SD adapter.

SOLUTION 2 - Toggle the lock switch.

If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
4. Try to transfer files into the device.

usually those card will have a lock (see here ) that will allow you to unlock the card and will let your write on it again. simply switch the the little switch to the other end (lock-off position) very gentle and attempt to write to the card

good luck!

if your camera does not contain a format feature in the firmware, you must use a PC with a card reader and use it to format the SD card. You can do this by going to my computer and right clicking on the removable media then the format option.

Hello abh.... Remove the card and look very carefully around the edges.
You will see the mechanical lock mechanism which you merely slide from the lock to the unlock position. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

If you are trying to format this card through a PC don't bother, it will not work when you install it into the phone.
If you are trying to format this card in the phone, you may find that your phone will not access high capacity type cards as few older phones do, and by older, I mean if the phone is more then 6 months old, the chances are that it will not allow access to the card.
Some phones also have an upper limit to the size of the card they will address and most will not address any card larger then 2gig..
Of course, you may also have a faulty card, even from new, some of the high density cards are faulty..
If you can get access to a smaller card (like say a 1gig), try that in your phone. If it works then you will find that your phone cannot address high density cards.
I have a camera, less then 6 months old, will address normal 2gig cards but it will not allow high density 4 gig cards which is a pain but alas, nothing you can do about it..
