Dynex 5-in-1 USB 2.0 Mini Memory Card Reader - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Its not even showing up on my computer that it is
Not to be a wise guy, but did you have the memory card in it when you connected up? If so, take it out and clean the contacts with a soft cloth and at least 90% alcohol. Also, look inside the reader to make sure none of the 4 pins are bent or broken. If all this fails, try it on another usb port. Sometimes they get reassigned by software or something, and won't detect certain devices on certain ports, for unknown (to me) reasons. If all this fails, try the card reader on another computer (maybe you should try this first). If everything fails, I would deduce the card reader is bad, and get another one. Good luck.
I cant figure out how to use the memory card
Make sure that the memory card is properly seated inside the card reader.
Try different cable.
Verify with the manufacturer, if this card reader is a Plug-n-Play or if you need to install a driver to the computer.
Try connecting it to different computer. Or try different types of memory cards (the cards should be supported).
If same problem occur, you need to contact the reseller, because the card reader could be defective.
Good luck!
When I connect the card reader to a school
Hello,
First of all make sure that the USB port that you are using to connect it to your PC is a USB 2.0 port, and not USB 1.0.
Also if it came with an external power, connect it to the external power before putting on your PC.
This is because the voltage supplied by USB 1.0 is lower than that of USB 2.0 and therefore might not be enough to power up your USB Drive.
After making sure about this, power up your system, and plug the card reader, then Right-Click on my computer icon, select manage, then go to Disk Management Option.
On the Disk management option Page you should see ALL the drives installed on your system, including the hidden ones, so what you will just do is, try and locate the one representing your memory card, and right click on it. then select "Change Drive letter and Paths", and give the drive any new, unique letter (i.e alphabet) different from the ones already on your system, and click on OK.
This should make your memory card to be detected automatically.
Hope this helps you out.
Goodluck!
Sfw installed on new computer
Hi.
The unit listed is an external USB card reader. This unit does not require drivers to work on Windows Vista and Windows XP.
If your old computer has XP or Vista, and the Dynex drive works on the new computer, then there is a software problem on your old computer operative system.
In that case try disconnecting computer from power , and if the computer is a laptop also removing battery at same time. Leave computer disconnected for two minutes to drain power.
If that does not work, or if you have a system older than Windows XP, or if you have a Mac,
you can try downloading drivers from Dynex link here.Regards.

Check that your card type is compatible with the sockets.
When a card fits, it goes in with the metal contact strips face down,
at the front. They normally require hardly any pressure to go in.
Sometimes my computer won't recognize my memory cards but here is a
trick. Put your memory card in your card reader before you start up
your PC. When you start up your computer it will scan all of its
hardware along with the memory card.
i hope these can help

According to what I was able to find the device does not require to be opened to insert the storage media.
I am assuming the device you are referring to is the same as the device shown in this link: http://www.dynexproducts.com/pc-314-2-dynex-5-in-1-usb-20-card-reader.aspx
If you are having troubles getting your storage media to fit into the slot then it is possible that the media type is unsupported by the device or that the storage media is being inserted incorrectly.
I hope this solves your problem, best of luck.
