HP windows 8 does not recognize simpleteck hard
I purchased a SimpleTech SimpleDrive Pininfarina 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Onyx for my Vista machine and all was well. Then I purchased a Windows 7 machine. It would not recognize the devise. I contacted SimpleTech only to be told my model cannot be used on machines newer that the Vista. Recently I purchased a Windows 8.1, did a little research, plugged the SimpleTech into the 8.1 and reformatted it using the Windows feature. The SimpleTech is alive and well on my 8.1.

It wont turn on
Could be a problem with the AC cycles. European gear is usually 50 cycles and so is their electricity. Or it could be a voltage issue.
When you travel abroad with your gear you must make sure that the juice available where ever you go is compatible with your equipment lest you risk equipment damage/failure.

did you try a different, system to plug the drive into?if the drive works on other systems , then your old xp has issues.id get off XP , as MS support ends soon. The XP OS, goes dingdong when you connnect any USB device.if the USB is bad on PC or the External drive is dead.so try the drive on one more PC. and now you know which end to work , all this is easy , try another PC.

How to open Hitachi LS-1000-EMEA 1TB external
Get a couple of guitar picks. With the unit upside down, you will see a curved ridge above the power and USB sockets, use your thumb to apply pressure upwards to this ridge. This will allow you to push a guitar pick between the dull plastic lid and the shiny plastic case, this is so the lid can slide clear of the case. Next go to the front of the unit and wrestle the other pick into the curved leading edge between the lid and the case. When it's in, you should find the lid will rise up a couple of millimeters. Now PUSH the pick towards the back of the unit. For me, the lid flew off undamaged and I could now access the circuit board and drive.

What is the power output for model 96300-41001-013
External and internal drives usually use 12volts to operate, but if you want a particular source for your brand, look for it online and you'll find the cheapest prices. Also ebay is a good site for almost everything.

Power output
I don't know what you're asking about but if you need a power adapter you can find them cheaply online by searching google or yahoo etc. for the particular brand you need. There are tons of dealers out there with quality reconfigured, rebuilt and even new adaptors for very low prices. Good luck!
