I can't import photos from memory card to computer

Reformatting will not help you and will lose everything on the card. Furthermore, do not attempt any repairs or data recovery until all other options have been exhausted. Have you tried the card in another Mac? Does a simple drag and drop action to your desktop work, or do you get the same or similar message? Make sure the computer is hard-rebooted and attempt to import pictures from another card. If it fails, problem with program. If it succeeds, problem with card, but this does not preclude trying the above-listed options. Paul Ronco

I have a SanDisk SDHC

The SD630 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It does not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards. Your SDHC card can be used in any camera that accepts SDHC cards.

How do I format a memory card without erasing pictures already on it?

No, format will erase all data. Try doing chkdsk <drive letter> /f in the command prompt.

4 GB SDHC Card will not format but 2 GB will.

I'm guessing that you're trying to format this card in a camera that is likely three years or older. Unfortunately the camera was probably designed before the SDHC format came out. Sorry, but there's no way the card will work in older cameras. It's meant for newer cameras, with high megapixel, and likewise high filesize demands.

Format error

Insure the slide on the left side of the card is in the UNLOCKED position. Make sure that what you will use the card on will be compatible with what is formatting the card. If you are using the card in a camera, let the camera format the card. In a computer, let the computer format it. If this is the first use of the card, make sure whatever device the card is inserted in, it formats the card.

I use olympus fe-5050 and

make sure the little switch on the side of the memory card is not in the wrong position. I believe this write protects it and cannot be erased or formatted accidently or even on purpose.

Is a SDHC Memory Card

Your camera will accept a maximum SD card capacity of 2GB. It simply isn't capable of handling anything of a larger capacity and in particular is incompatible with the more technically advanced SDHC cards.

Your fix is to either replace your camera with a later model or to stick to using SD cards with a maximum 2GB capacity.

Sandisc camera sd card - capacity full error

Your camera menu should have an option to FORMAT the card. This will need to be done. If you deleted all files on the card by using a computer, the files may not be completely gone without having the camera reformat the card. It is always most efficient and safer to have the camera do the deleting rather than a computer.

The computer i am using is a dell inspiron

very few of the computers of the age of yours, using Windows XP will read cards larger than 2GB directly in the Card Slots. If you purchase a separate CardReader that is capable of reading SD/HC cards you can connect that to your USB ports and it should read any card up to at least 16GB.
