I just bought the ipod
If it is a different model iPod then it is likely the Bose dock does not support the newer model. Quite often changes such as from iPhone 3 to iPhone 4, Bose had to release a new dock. The speakers and music will still always work, but the support will be limited for charging. Unfortunately you will not be able to fix this, other than upgrade the dock, or go back to your old ipod.
Thumps Up!
I am having trouble connecting
Hi, This may be remedied believe it or not by a little whittleing. Be very careful as you are dealing with a 110 volt a.c. line cord, any signs of silver or copper color may mean the cord has been damaged! It sounds like the end of the cord might be a bit misshapen. if the receptacle on the back of the bose ( where the cord plugs in ) is for example squared off on the one side while the other is rounded off (or vice versa-the receptacle is rounded while cord is flat along one side ) then you may whittle the flat side to match the plug in. also sometimes the plug end that goes into the Bose may need to be notched ( this can bee seen on any number of cords that you may even already have-a little groove on one or both sides right in between the holes at the end ).
Thanks for asking FixYa, I hope i was of some assistance, let us know if so or even if not, thanks again and good luck, Prodzilla.
System won't recognize the Ipod,
First, grab your friend or family members ipod and see if it works. If it does, then your problem is your ipod.
You'll probably end up needing to restore the ipod. connect your ipod to the computer and click restore. It's a major pain to have to do this I know, just because it takes forever. You wont loose any music or other data if you sync and transfer purchases first, but it fixes most problems.
If the different ipod doesn't work, then it's the sounddocks problem and you should return it. If for whatever reason you can't return it, there are ways to hack the sounddock so that it will take an auxiliry plug instead of the dock. Here's the simplest one I found, but there's a bunch of articles on it if you look.

Good luck!
The volume won't go up.
You will need to take the iPod out of the dock and re-seat it. Try it again if it doesn't work the first time. If there is no sound and the iPod is not charging, check that the Sound Dock is plugged into a working power outlet and that the cord is secured to the system. Remove the iPod and re-seat it into the dock. If you have no sound after you removed or inserted the iPod quickly, remove the iPod and wait five seconds before reinserting it. You may have to reset the system if this doesn't work. To reset the system, unplug the Sound Dock for one minute.
Bose Sounddock - Speakers have a loud hiss at low song volume
Here is how I fixed the hissing noise in my Soundock;
--Pull the bottom plate off (It is attached by 4 screws)
--There is a green motherboard with 2 ribbonwires. .
--One of the ribbonwires (the one the mounts the ribbon vertically) had loosened up.
--Use a tweezers to pop it back into place and that noise will disappear.
This is a design flaw, as the action of inserting/removing your ipod, coupled with the action of setting your sound dock down will work this ribbon loose.
MY SYSTEM KEEPS CRACLING AND SHORTING OUT
The power source of the Bose is fried - unplug it from the wall immediately. Unfortunately the source can't be fixed and it can be replaced only by the dealer. You will have to take it to it.

other costumers had the same problem, clearly bose knew about it, seems to be a problem
with the power adaptor interfering. they sent a new power pack and
voila it was now totally silent.

It seems to have a
Well unfortunately with a blown speaker your only options are replacement as you mentioned or you can have Bose repair the item. I would call Bose at 800-999-2673 and I believe it's option 2 right at the beginning. If you happened to purchase the unit with a major credit card (not
a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free
extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please
contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they
will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the unit.
Thanks
Tim
