It is a defrost problem since the ice that freezes on the freezer coils
is not being melted by the defrost system.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater,heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.

One of two things has happened. Either your evaporator fan has stopped working and not forcing the cold air down the cooling tubes to cool the refrigerator or the cooling tubes have iced up and the cold can't get to the refrigerator side of your unit - which is generally a defrost circuit malfunction.

If you don't feel air flow in the refrigerator section, then I am on the money. First check the fan and see if it is turning, if not replace. If it is turning, then you will need to use a hair dryer to defrost the dreezer and air tubes. Then troubleshoot the defrost circuit which is normally made up of a defrost heater, defrost thermostat and defrost timer.

The gasket between the fridge and freezer on many of these frigidaire models is made of
styrofoam. It is located under the the cold control assembly. Usually 4 screws holding
this assembly in. Unplug fridge, remove these screws, lower the cold control, clip off wire tie and unplug the control. Slide the assembly out and look closely for
water runs. Sometimes the divider even has water run down the side of it
on the molded in catch/drain cup. Look at the styrofoam (This may also be two types
of foam due to a design change) If it looks corroded and water stained, carefully dry it
with a hair dryer and silicone the mating surfaces which are "V" shaped and reassemble
the unit and allow to dry for a bit. Hard to explain in writing but becomes obvious
when disassembled. Hope this helps.

Check ans see if your evaporator fan(in the freezer) is running. It moves the cold air down to the refrigerator. It is relatively easy to replace

The evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.


Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the inside of the freezer at the bottom of the rear cover.

You have a defrost problem and either the timer, heater, or defrost thermostat need replacing.

The warranty is only for 1 year unless it is a refrigeration problem.
Check to see if the relay is bad or any of the start components.
