Out of focus 22"LCD Monitor

Since you have your reciept you should be able to get a refund repair or replacement from Best Buy.

If it's past the warrenty date then you could ring a repair shop and get a quote on the cost to fix but would probobly cost more than the monitor is worth

Get rid of volume bar in middle of screen

I had this same problem a while ago. It was because the top "touch" button on the side was being triggered at a rapid rate. I took mine back to the retailer because it was within the Westinghouse 1 yr warranty. After getting a replacement display (same Westinghouse 22 in), I have had to take it apart because of a bad video processing board. In doing so I have seen that the side buttons are very easy to get to and fiddle with. If you are out of your warranty period, perhaps try taking off the case of the display and fiddling with the button board and connections

Can't remove cover of Westinghouse LCM-22w2 monitor

Hey Ed,

I hope I can help, It doesn't open from the back, it opens from the front.... carefully! There are four support screws, which hold the LCD screen to the desk stand, after removing all the support screws (4) on the back under the support stand cover.(which pull up to remove) (Remember! the whole case and face frame is plastic, so take your time). Work to separate the black face frame around the LCD from the silver case. Its held together by small plastic clips on the face frame to the wall on the LCD case. Start at one of the corners and slowly pry the face frame and silver case apart. (separate it inch by inch, work your way around the case carefully. If one corner doesn't give, go to another side.
Putting back together works reverse, the face frame and the case snap back together, Carefully! And replace screws (4).

Russell

P.S. I have three LCD models from Westinghouse, LCM-22w2, L2210NW and the L1916HW. They all open the same way.

It's mostly likely a bad capacitor in the main power supply of your monitor. If you're brave enough to dismantle it, look for capacitors that're "crowned", and sometimes even rupture from overheating in such circumstances. You can order replacements from Digi-Key if you can figure out which might be your problem, but I'm not sure I recommend you try this unless you have at least SOME soldering/desoldering skills or a friend who does. You COULD wind up worse off. It's up to you, only YOU know your personal skill level for such tasks. And do I need to say, UNPLUG it before dismantiling? :)

Has power but a black screen lcd monitor

I have repair many Westinghouse monitors. You'll need a set of hardened plastic pry bars to remove the bezel. You'll need an ESR meter to test the capacitors in the power supply. You'll need an static isolated soldering iron the replace the capacitors. The capacitors you can get at a local radio shack. I do these repairs daily and they're not as hard as it seems.

Everything appears extra large when i turned it on yesterday. how do i get it backnto normal size?

There are a couple of ways this could happen: First is if you have changed the resolution of the monitor. You do this through right-clicking on the desktop and selecting the display properties. The other way is if you have, in the display properties, changed the font size and the icon size. If it's a matter of resetting the display properties and you are not wanting to go through the display settings, just do a system restore back to a couple of days ago and the problem should resolve itself.
