Last year I went to my company's christmas party
1. You will need to check the units instruction manual.
This sounds like the LCD TV is in the "timer" mode that is the tv is set for 120, 90, 30 minutes and then turns itself off.
2. It also maybe a circuit built into the TV to protect the electronic components and will shut down the unit when it senses a heat or voltage change ( this can be a manufacturing defect) call the manufacturer and see if this is a recall. Some time the manufacturer will replace the unit even if it is a gift from the company you work for.
The unit has already been purchased and has full warranty status.
Hope this helps.
I have a Scientific Atlanta 3250HD cable box that
Did you call Scientific Atlanta to find out if this could be a software issue in their box, or if there is a failure occurring?
I have had cable boxes do similar things to what you are describing. It turned out to be the box was defective and had to be changed. They were not serviceable. I believe these cable boxes were made by Scientific Atlanta.

HOW DO I CONNECT A VCR AND WHAT DO i SET THE INPUT ON.
If you have connected using the coax (aerial) ten the problem will be that the vcr is analogue and the tv is digital(if you have an older digital tv it should have an analogue tuner so you can set it to analogue and tune to the vcr) I suggest using a scart cable from the vcr to the tv, then you just press av on the remote(on some you can just change the channel down from 1 to the av inputs).
Picture is too big for screen
You will have a button on the _original_ remote that says Format, Aspect Ratio, Zoom, Size or just AR. It will cycle through Normal, Stretch, Partial Zoom, Zoom, Gray Bar, or the like. You are not in Normal but in one of the Zooms. Stretch is used to make 4x3 movies fill a 16x9 screen, may not be desirable. Zoom is used to fill the 16x9 screen with movies that have been letter boxed. Gray Bar fills the sides of a 4x3 picture on a 16x9 set with gray to "avoid" burn in. Use normal except zoom on LB.

Black and white grainy output to new samsung lcd
Your DVD player is using a PAL or NTSC variant which is not supported by your display. Somewhere hidden in the depths of the options in the DVD player should be an option to change the composite output type.
TV picture doesn't fit in screen no matter what the setting
Ok, so I think I have your solution :)
You're actually my first when it comes to this site, so hopefully this fixes your problem!
Step 1 - Turn off the cable box, but leave the TV on
Step 2 - On the front of the 8300HD, press the "guide" button and the "info" button at the same time
Step 3 - Choose "HD" for High Definition, or "SD" for standard definition. (Sounds like you're HD?)
Step 4 - Choose the aspect ratio 16:9
Step 5 - Choose "progressive scan" if it asks you.
Now press the "power" button on the box, does that fix it?
Getting a No Sync message on my television
I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV
up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors.
Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although
were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of
preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected
due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
Hope this helps
Line across top of screen
I have a Vizio, I am able to go menu>set-up>picture. In that mode I have vertical & horizontal adjustments that fix that problem. Maybe you have similar choices in your menu.
