Why sound but no picture?
Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter
board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
Some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

I have an Insignia 42" LCD HD tv model# T420HW04.

of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model
number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.Without any
knowledge in electronics, nobody cant do this adjustment correctly. Enter the service mode, if you're confident.

Insignia ns lcd 32 wont power on
When you plug in the set, does the standby light come on? Most likely you are dealing with either a failed power supply or main board. I would start with checked the power supply for bulged capacitors.

Hot back panel
There will be some heating effect to all LCD TV, as it works. This is not a fault. The back-light CCFL tubes will generate heat.

My volume turns full blast on its own and cant be
Most likely the issue is one of the buttons on the TV is stuck. You should be able to verify this with the TV unplugged and then see if all the buttons seem like they have some play to them. When the buttons are pressed you should hear a little click noise. If you find one that doesn't well then there is your stuck button. You would then have to remove the swich from inside the TV by removing the back to disable that function. I hope that helps : )
