The iPod Touch is a type of iPod that features a touch screen and can function as both a portable media player and as a pocket computer.
It is possible to password protect your iPod Touch so that you will have to enter a password every time you want to unlock the iPod Touch screen.
If you repeatedly enter the incorrect passcode, your iPod Touch will become disabled.
To unlock a disabled iPod Touch, you need to sync your iPod Touch device with iTunes on your computer.
Attach the iPod Touch data cable to the bottom of your iPod Touch device and attach the other end of the data cable to an available USB port on your computer.
Open iTunes on your computer and then select your iPod Touch device from the list of available devices on the left side of the iTouch window.
Click the "Restore" button.
If you have previously backed up your iPod Touch, you can choose to restore the device to the last back up or any saved backup.
If you have never backed up your iPod Touch, this process will restore your iPod Touch's factory settings.
Wait while iTunes syncs with your iPod Touch and restores the device.
iTunes will prompt you when this process is complete.
or
A hard reset restores your iPod Touch to its original factory settings.
This is useful when your iPod Touch is disabled and won't turn on or off, but all your data is erased.
Luckily, you can restore your data with iTunes after you've performed the reset.
Once you've performed the reset, your iPod is wiped clean and iTunes prompts you to restore the settings from your last sync.
Plug the iPod into your computer and wait at least 10 minutes.
This allows the battery to recharge in case it has drained.
This could fix your disabled iPod, if the problem was caused by a dead battery.
Click "OK" if your computer opens a "Connect to iTunes" alert box.
Depending on your version of iTunes, the message may indicate the iPod is in "recovery mode" and you need to restore the device.
ITunes opens and resets your iPod for you.
Unplug the iPod from your computer if you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" alert box.
Make sure the iPod is charged before you attempt the hard reset.
Press and hold both the On/Off/Wake button and the Home button on your iPod.
Keep the buttons pressed.
Wait for the Apple logo to appear, it may take 10 seconds or longer.
When you see it, release the On/Off/Wake button but keep the Home button pressed.
Release the Home button when you see a picture of a USB cable with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo.
Plug your iPod back into the computer.
The iTunes "recovery mode" message will appear.
Click "OK" to complete the reset.
Give the Apple companies 1800 number a call. If it is the password to your ipod, they will ask for the VIN number on the bottom back side of the ipod and ask you to verify information, if the info is correct they will give you the password or help you to unlock it
You cannot if there was a passcode put on it. If there is and you are unsure of what it may be, you can call the Apple companies 1800 number and give them the VIN number of the ipod, you will have to verify some information but if the information is correct they will either let you know the passcode or help you to unlock it.
