Typically the fuse OPERATES because the magnetron is getting burned out... but HEY fuse is cheap... check out the parts houses below (just that getting an UNDERCABINET down each time can be a SERIOUS PAIN. "appliancepartspros" will let you order the parts and return THOSE UN-USED parts... (pretty handy). MOST likely from poor use & abuse... I watched my sisters grand kids warm "butter pats" in her NEW convection micro-wave. It was VERY short lived...!! There's A REASON they advise not operating them EMPTY. Once the plastic is yellowed, there's not much you can do to remove the yellow discoloration. Just continue to use your microwave as usual. If a burnt smell remains, you can heat vinegar in the microwave which will help eliminate the horrible odor--like burnt popcorn!!!! Yuck! ..

try microwave repair shops as they may have plates from units that were repairable or may have new plates in stock contact maytag direct and see if they are available and where from

I had this same problem with my Maytag Microwave. Unplug the unit and plug it back in. It fixed my issue.

It could be the pads themselves. The touch pads are notorious for going bad. The light staying on could be a bad door switch. Check there first. There are three switches in the door interlock assembly. One of them could be causing the unit not to reset so it can cook.

Check a Home Depot to see if they have one like yours and ask them about changing it at the store this way you can see how to do it

There is a poor diagram on Searspartsdirect.com, but no instructions. A diagram might help.

This could be a bad turntable motor or relay...or connection..

Take off the control panel to do this remove the grille over door should be two screws remove screw from control slide upward it should come forward take a pic of wires then remove to get panel out of the way almost forgot the spade terminals on the relay have a lock on them you have to look carefully there is a tab you need to depress to release the lock to slide off, there may be a black plastic panel in the way take out the bottom screw then you can pry out of the way you have either a bad primary or secondary switch change both not that expensive primary on top left switch 3 wires going to it secondary bottom single switch same principle to unlock terminals # 15 torx bit needed to remove the screw for door switch mount hopes this helps

Hi, Either your thermostat or relay to the blower has faulted. Thermostat is cheap but the relay is on the control board. So either replace the thermostat P#53001373 or replace the microwave as the control board is discontinued according to the information you provided. I assume we're taking about an over the range microwave here. It should be mounted on brackets on the wall behind the microwave. You'll have to lift the microwave up and out of the bracket. If you have removed all of the top bolts the thing could fall! So be careful!

You probably fried the magnetron.Unless you have a really high dollar microwave,you're probably better off replacing it.
